Songwriter and lyricist with 20+ years of creative experience specializing in cinematic, story-driven songs. I use AI-assisted tools as a creative sketchpad to turn lyrics, characters, and ideas into full song concepts and arrangements. If you have a vision for a track, I can help bring it to life!
Owner and Sole Proprietor of FeatherForge - Where creativity takes flight!
Most of my work revolves around storytelling — writing songs inspired by characters, fictional worlds, games, and larger creative projects.
I use modern AI-assisted tools to develop arrangements and explore musical directions, but the heart of the work always starts with the story, lyrics, and emotional tone of the piece. My goal is to take an idea (whether it’s a few lines of lyrics, a character concept, or a rough vision for a track) and turn it into a complete song concept that feels alive.
If you’re a game developer, writer, creator, or someone with an original idea for a song but aren’t sure how to turn it into music, that’s exactly where I can help. Share your concept, style, and direction, and I’ll work with you to shape it into a finished track.
I’m especially interested in projects involving character themes, narrative songs, cinematic pieces, and music tied to larger creative worlds.

Interview with Jacob Ketchum
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I’m currently working on my debut novel series, The Or’Yon Saga, a project more than twenty years in the making! Alongside the books, I’ve written many songs inspired by the characters, places, and events of that universe. My long-term dream is to see the stories and music come together one day on-screen.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is that every song I write will start with the story. Whether it’s a character, a moment, or an emotional idea, I treat each project as something personal and meaningful, not just another track.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: AI tools are part of my workflow, but they’re only instruments—like a synthesizer or sampler. The heart of every song I write is still the human element: the lyrics, the emotional story, and the time spent shaping the idea into something meaningful. Also, the most helpful thing a client can bring is a clear sense of the feeling they want the song to capture. Even a few reference tracks, a short description of a character, or a moment from a story can be enough to start building something meaningful. My job is to help translate those ideas into music, so the clearer the emotional direction, the better the result.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A notebook, a pack of pencils, and whatever other 3 pieces would best help me survive! Probably some kind of multitool, poncho, and firestarter kit.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been writing creatively for over twenty years. It began in high school after a dream introduced a character who became the backbone of my creative universe—my muse. Since then, she has inspired my ongoing novel series, The Or’Yon Saga, as well as dozens of songs written from the perspectives of its characters and world.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Monster Siren Records. I'm a huge fan of the Arknights universe, and Monster Siren Records is their in-universe label under which all music is released. They aren't one specific artist, but I would love to work with any of them to bring my songwriting to life for the purpose of adding depth to a character or setting's lore.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Songs have always felt like small stories to me. Some last three minutes, some seven, but the goal is always the same: make the listener feel like they've stepped into a moment that mattered.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I approach songs like stories. My strength is turning characters, worlds, or emotional moments into lyrics that feel like part of a larger narrative. Many of my songs are connected to larger creative worlds I’ve built, so even a single track can feel like a small window into something bigger.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually begin with the story behind the song. Whether it’s a character, a scene, or a broader concept, I start by identifying the emotional core of the idea. From there I develop lyrics and vocal melody that reflect that narrative, then explore musical arrangements and tone using my composition tools. I share early drafts with clients so we can refine the direction together, making sure the final song captures the feeling they envisioned.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is built around writing first and production second. I use AI-assisted composition tools to explore arrangements and sound design, but every song begins with lyrics, narrative, and emotional tone. My listening setup includes Sennheiser EPOS headphones, a Logitech Z625 sound system, and an Elgato Wave 3 microphone for recording ideas and vocals.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I’m inspired by cinematic composers and emotionally driven music from artists such as Two Steps From Hell, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, and Thomas Bergersen. They have always fascinated me because their work always manages to feel larger than life. I also draw inspiration from artists like Eivør and Kalandra, whose voices carry raw emotion and atmosphere, as well as Kitaro’s ability to create spiritual soundscapes. In the world of games and animation, I’m especially inspired by Monster Siren Records from Arknights, because they use music to expand the emotional depth and lore of their characters and storylines.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I specialize in writing lyrics and narrative-driven songs. Many of my projects involve building music around characters, stories, or fictional worlds. This makes my work especially well-suited for games, animation, cinematic music, and storytelling projects where music is meant to deepen the emotional connection to a character or moment. I enjoy helping turn ideas into songs that feel like part of a living world.
