Being a successful producer is much more than getting a terrific sound. My most important goal is building trust and confidence and great communication with the artist! I strive to keep a consistent and positive attitude while being persistent, yet flexible enough to consider constructive ideas and critique. And I must say that, from staying in a strict budget, to arranging a recording schedule, my organisation skills have grown to be one of my greatest strengths in this gig.Im lucky to wear a few hats well and switch quite often, from composing to arranging, mixing, to singing, playing bass, percs, MPC finger drums, guitar, keys, Moog, or just picking and placing mics and sitting and listening and finding the sound in the control room - music and the recording of music is central to my being and getting the best sound possible is a lifelong fascination! Tech wise I believe in minimal compression or hard comp for an effect as a rule of thumb. Less is usually more - unless drama begs for the tape delay - then flood it!
