A session bassist, vocalist and producer with 38+ years’ experience recording and performing across genres — from Reggae & Calypso to Trip Hop, House, Afrobeat, somewhere between worlds and beyond. Groove-driven, versatile, and ready to bring weight and depth to your track.
Corey Atheleny Wallace aka Coreysan is a Bristol-based, Trinidad-born bassist, vocalist, and producer with over 38 years of experience on stage and in the studio. Known for his deep groove and versatility, he has recorded, performed, and co-written across many genres including Calypso, Reggae, Rapso, Trinidad fusion, Afrobeat, Indian fusion, Latin and Brazilian fusion, Trip Hop, House, Tech-House, and Space Rock to name a few.
This wide-ranging background gives him the rare ability to lock into traditional styles or seamlessly blend into worlds where genres intertwine. Whether you need a solid pocket, melodic movement, or something experimental, Coreysan brings flavour, feel, and creativity to every session.
As a solo artist, he describes his music as Alternative Caribbean Music— bass-driven, rootsy, thought-provoking, and mysterious. One listener once described it as “dark and nourishing.”
“Less is more. The kick drum is my love. Just find the groove that makes them move.”

Interview with Coreysan
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I've started playing and touring with Ozric Tentacles last July. It has been a very great learning experience, having not played this style of music before. I love going into uncharted musical realms.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: New solo album and music for an underwater photography video.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To listen attentively, co-create beauty and deliver on time.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Everything!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: To be clear and committed to any shared ideas/concepts with an aim to make it work the first time/try. I love trying to nail it on the first go.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: 12 string and some extra strings. If there's solar power, then my bass and my Roland street cube too :)
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Self taught and started at age 16. I have been doing music for over 38 years and more to come.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Alternative Caribbean Music
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Jah Wobble. He has been a huge influence in my musical direction of merging worlds. I would love to write and sing on song with him.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Mix the song. Use your ears.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Besides my solo project (Alternative Caribbean Music), I have and continue to work with Calypso, Reggae, Rapso, Trinidad fusion, Afrobeat, Indian fusion, Latin and Brazilian fusion, Trip Hop, House, Tech-House, and Space Rock to name a few.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Bass guitar, Vocals, Songwriting and producing in FL Studio
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A deep respect for space in music, especially when there is a lead instrument or lead vocal. Weight and depth. The same applies for vocal and songwriting because I have a very deep singing voice and conceptual way of writing lyrics. All with a distinctive but not invasive Trinidadian/Caribbean flavour. “Less is more. The kick drum is my love. Just find the groove that makes them move.”
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: By discussing your project, references, and the vibe you’re going for, I will be able to clearly understand the groove, mood, and role that the bass or vocals should play. I would then record multiple takes (usually 2 or 3), giving you options to fit the groove and the mood and for re-editing into something new. I will then send you a draft to review. After receiving your feedback, I can then make revisions if needed to make sure that it locks in perfectly with your track (usually 2 or 3). After receiving your approval, I will send the ready-to-mix stems to you, in your preferred format, on time.
