Interview with Elie Abwi (Toneshifterz)
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Im very musical person, since a very young age ive been improvising on things that i was learning. I have a very melodic style, and am always searching for the next big sound.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on Hardstyle, EDM, Techno, Trance, Pop and Soundtrack work, but have had experience writing drum and bass House music.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a studio setup in a complex with 3 other studios with other industry professionals, in a city called Apeldoorn in the Netherlands. Its built by Pinna Acoustics who has built similar studios for Netflix and many artists. https://pinna-acoustics.com/
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Im a producer, audio engineer, and a mixing and mastering engineer for Dance music. I also write various other genres from soundtrack music, to creating Trailer Audio for short promo videos. I have extensive sound design knowledge and have been 10+ years in the industry.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I was part of a festival where i created all the intro and outro musical pieces for the festival and 1 minute customized intros for all the artists who are playing which were all timed and synced with the light and lazer show. also wrote a whole musical piece for the headlining artist of the event leading into his intro.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I use all digital, because in this day and age its super accesible and good quality stuff. Unless ofcourse you are taking a creative approach and want that analog sound then thats understandable.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I always deliver quality content.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: i do what i love, and that means i don't have to work a day in my life.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: ive been doing this for 10+ years. I went out of school into an audio engineering collage, at the time i was signed to a label and have an extensive release catalog under my belt, in excess of 150 releases. I moved from australia to the netherlands in 2011 and havent looked back ever since.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always reference similar tracks to your own tracks to make sure your mix is on the right track.

Depending on the project, a couple days to 2 weeks maximum, considering that I have what i need to complete the project and the extensiveness of the project. Bigger projects may take more time
