GAGA Dimantha on SoundBetter

I bring out the soul of your vocals and the energy in your mix. Whether it’s pop, indie, EDM, or spiritual music, I fine-tune your sound with emotional clarity and technical precision — specializing in pitch correction, electronic production, mixing, and mastering.

I’m Gaga Dimantha — a seasoned producer and engineer with over a decade of experience in the Sri Lankan EDM scene and beyond. I’ve worked on 500+ TV and radio commercials, scored major film soundtracks, and collaborated on hit tracks with some of the country’s top artists.

My specialty? Vocal tuning that feels real, mixing/mastering that punches, and music production that blends emotional depth with technical clarity. Whether it’s pop, indie, EDM, or spiritual/ambient music, I bring out the unique character in your sound.

I have deep roots in electronic music production, with a sharp ear for dynamics, stereo field, and frequency balance. My mixes are built to move people — whether they’re in headphones, clubs, or film theaters.

What makes my work different is my ability to blend global production techniques with authentic local elements, creating tracks that are sonically rich and culturally resonant.

If you want your music to sound clean, hit hard, and feel alive, let’s connect.

Interview with GAGA Dimantha

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One project I’m especially proud of is “Yakkha Thejha Bala” by The Devil Brothers. I wrote, mixed, and mastered the entire track for the Electric Mask Festival (EMF), one of the biggest EDM festivals in Sri Lanka. The song became a landmark moment—it sparked real momentum in the local EDM scene and marked one of the biggest highlights of my career so far.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Right now, I’m working on a progressive house project and also scoring a film. It’s a nice balance between high-energy production and cinematic storytelling.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I’m new to SoundBetter, so I haven’t had the chance to connect with other providers here yet. But I’m always open to building a network and recommending trusted collaborators as I get to know the community.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: For me, it’s never about analog or digital—it’s about what serves the music best. Both have their strengths, and I use whatever tools help me deliver the sound the client is after. If that means blending both, I’m all for it. End result is all that matters.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise is to deliver something that not only sounds right but feels right. I aim to create a result that connects with the client’s vision—and with their audience. It’s not just about sound quality; it’s about emotional impact.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love every part of the job—even cleaning up messy, heavily flawed vocals. There’s something deeply satisfying about taking raw or chaotic material and shaping it into something beautiful. Knowing what the final result can become keeps me fully engaged in every step of the process.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: The most common question I get is: “How much will it cost?” That’s fair—but with clients I work with regularly, the conversation usually starts with the idea behind the project. We dive into the creative side first—what’s the story, the sound, the goal—and then we figure out the budget based on the scope of work. The result is always better when the vision comes first.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: One big misconception is that producers just press buttons or make beats. In reality, it’s a deep creative and technical process—shaping sound, managing emotion, guiding the artist, and making sure everything from arrangement to final mix serves the song. It’s not just about gear; it’s about taste, vision, and experience.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I always start by asking about the idea behind the project—what’s the vision, the vibe, and the story they’re trying to tell. Once I understand the creative direction, then I move on to the technical details: references, deadlines, file formats, and any specific requests. Getting the big picture first helps me deliver exactly what the client needs.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Look for someone who listens carefully to your vision and knows how to bring it to life technically and creatively. Don’t just pick the cheapest option—quality and clear communication matter way more. Make sure your provider is flexible and willing to collaborate until the final product truly fits your goals.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: No matter where I am, if I have my Mac, an Apollo sound card, and a pair of Adams monitors, I’m all set. With those, I can handle production, mixing, and everything in between—so that’s all I’d need on a desert island.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I’ve been in the music production and audio engineering game for over 10 years. This decade-plus experience has given me a deep understanding of both creative and technical sides of the industry.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I don’t stick to a single style—I’m versatile and open to experimenting. My background in the commercial music industry has taught me to adapt and deliver exactly what the client needs. Whether it’s EDM, pop, or something else, I tailor my work to fit the project without being tied down to one particular style.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I’d love to work with Jacob Collier because his musical creativity and technical mastery are on another level. Collaborating with him would push my boundaries and completely change how I approach music—both creatively and technically. The experience would be invaluable for my growth as a producer.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: A song really starts taking shape only after you lock in a clear idea. The idea is everything. If you don’t have one yet, experiment with what you do have — keep shaping it until it becomes solid and meaningful.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I usually work on EDM, house, and pop — from atmospheric electronic to radio-ready bangers. I focus on emotion, energy, and a mix that moves.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Mixing and mastering — especially bringing out emotional depth, vocal clarity, and punch without losing the soul of the track. I know how to make a mix hit and feel right.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring soul, emotion, and feel to a song — not just clarity or technical polish. My goal is to make the track connect deeply, whether it’s a subtle ballad or a high-energy anthem.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: First, I carefully analyze the track to understand what it already has and what it truly needs. Then I begin the process of polishing the existing elements while enhancing the mix with the right additions — always aiming to elevate the emotional and sonic impact without overdoing it.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I work on a Mac-based system with Logic Pro X, running through a Universal Audio Apollo Twin MkII and Adam A5X monitors. I also have access to an Apollo X8 rig for larger sessions. My mixes are powered by top-tier UAD analog emulations and high-end plugins, ensuring clarity, warmth, and precision. For film or immersive projects, I have access to a professional 5.1 surround sound setup used for movie score mixing.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I’m inspired by artists and producers who blend emotional depth with technical finesse — like RÜFÜS DU SOL for their atmosphere, Zedd for mix clarity, San Holo for organic textures, and Jon Hopkins for sonic storytelling. I also draw a lot from cinematic composers and spiritual sounds — and I love weaving Sri Lankan musical elements into modern productions.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I mostly work on vocal-focused tracks — tuning vocals to perfection, then mixing and mastering with emotional clarity and punch. I also produce full tracks when clients need that extra magic.
