Interview with Lucian Nagy
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I don't quarantee for anyone ... since no one guarantees for me :))) Welcome in this altruistic world ... maybe soon my answer will change ...
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: In this actual present i think you should be prepared and open minded for both ways ...
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I grew up in a family where everyone was an artist ... so the code was established since my birth ...
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Abstract ... most of the time ... maybe? That's the fun part of it which makes it as well Creative ... Without boundaries and filled with lots of colours ...
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: There are many artists with whom i would like to work ... Maybe one of them would be Sting ... or Hans Zimmer ... just for the sake of understanding the approach on music within that world.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always try to step within the Matrix of the music you are recording and be part of the story through your sound colours as an entire whole ...
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: A generic question ... You mean ... how do i start to record for a project i receive? Normally, it depends on the terms ... Do i need just to improvise a solo? Do i need to record over parts written on scores? The magical and more important idea is that i am delivering the tracks as fast as i can ... in the most professional way ...
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I've decided to have a sort of a mobile studio, offering me the opportunity to record in the nature and other spaces where i want to explore the sounds. I think this is an opportunity and somehow offers a sort of Freedom.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Alan Silvestri, Martin Tillman, Hans Zimmer and many others ...
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Record tracks for their projects. When we have a deal for sharing the royalties, i am even co-composing for their songs ... Never to forget and therefore i am reminding you this ... When i am improvising a solo because someone asked me to do this for their song, it's actually a process through which i am composing right in the moment ... Improvisation means to create/compose on the spot ...
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Music it's vast. The magic happens when you are in a continous search and re-invent yourself like in your Inner Rennaissance Era. That's why i am exploring different genres of music and quite lots of musical instruments from different areas of this world.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: World music, Soundtracks/Film/Theatre and Puppets Theatre Music, Jazz, Electronic, Latin, Gospel, Experimental, Contemporary ...
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I can compose ( even an spontaneous improvisation it's actually a composition on the moment, right?) I am a good sight-reading of music scores. I can adapt on differrent music genres and play in style. I can play by ear very easily and also improvise. I think it's enough for the moment :)
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Imagine that on your music production, instead of using a sampled synthetic sound of a turkish ney or a duduk, or even a saxophone, you will receive an organic sound produced and delivered by a human soul ... me. Don't you think that this is already an awesome input to your music?
1 max 2 revisions in max 1-2 days ( when hopefully i am not on tours) with additional costs depending on the music project. Fair enough ... don't you think? :)
