Looking for a warm, detailed pop mix that makes your vocals shine and your track hit hard? I'm a Rotterdam-based producer and mixer with a feel for pop, indie, and soul. I help artists go from rough demo to release-ready, always with emotion, clarity, and vibe. Let's make your track sound like it belongs on your favorite playlist.
Hi, I'm a music producer and mixing engineer based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I specialize in pop, indie, soul, and everything in between. My goal is always the same: help artists bring out the full potential of their song with warmth, clarity, and energy.
Whether you’re starting with a rough demo or already have a full production, I’ll work closely with you to take your track to a professional level. I offer production, mixing, vocal editing, and creative input tailored to your sound. I care about the emotion of a track as much as the technical side, and I always make sure your vocals sit just right and your arrangement supports the story of your song.
I've worked with independent artists across different genres, helping them shape and finish songs for release. I work from a treated home studio with high-end monitoring and a hybrid setup of analog-style plugins and clean digital tools.
I’m reliable, easy to communicate with, and quick to respond. I take every track seriously, and I’m not done until you're happy with the result. If you’re looking for someone who listens, understands your vision, and brings fresh perspective to your music, I’d love to work with you.

Interview with Paul Graumans
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I produced, mixed, and mastered three songs for the artist Stev, which I'm especially proud of and grateful for. Our collaboration works so well because we complement each other. Stev writes beautiful, creative songs, and I support him by suggesting small chord changes, finding the right instruments to match the emotion, and shaping the overall sound. We're both always looking for creative ways to lift a song to its highest potential. We never let technical limitations get in the way and always focus on what the song truly needs.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: A bunch of projects. Just finished a production and mix for the artist SeMone Pansa. Currently finishing the mix and master of 2 songs for a new artist. The time in between projects I always work on my own song (demo's) and collaborate with the people in my network on new projects, for example Sky Lobby Syndicate.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not yet, but hopefully soon!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog, because it's creative, flexible, reliable and quick.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to treat every song with care and respect, no matter the size of the project. I’ll listen closely to your input, communicate clearly, and do my best to bring out the full potential of your music. I won’t stop until the track feels right and you’re truly happy with the result.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I live for music. What I like most about my job is helping artists turn their ideas into something real and emotionally powerful. To go from an idea to a finished "product" is what I love most.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: A common question is: Can you make my song sound like this reference? My answer is: I can make it feel as good as the reference, but sound like you. I focus on capturing the emotion and quality you're aiming for, while keeping your unique identity intact. The goal is to match the vibe, not copy the sound.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: One of the biggest misconceptions is that mixing or mastering is just about making things louder or adding effects. In reality, it’s about making sure every part of the song supports the emotion and message. It’s a creative process, not just a technical one, and the small details often make the biggest difference.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I usually ask what their vision is for the track and how far along they are in the process. I want to know what they’re aiming for emotionally and sonically. I also ask if they have any reference tracks, how involved they want to be in the process, and if there’s a deadline. It helps me understand how to approach the project and make sure we’re a good fit.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Take the time to find out if it’s a good musical match. Listen to their previous work, talk about your vision, and make sure they understand the kind of sound you're aiming for. A good working relationship and clear communication can make all the difference in how your song turns out. It's not just about skills, but about connection and trust.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: An acoustic guitar, an acoustic bass, a drumkit, a stereo microphone and any recording/playback device.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been making music all my life. I started out playing guitar and writing songs, which naturally led me into recording, producing, and eventually mixing and mastering. Over the years I’ve worked with a range of artists and developed a deep understanding of both the creative and technical sides of music. Now I run a home studio where I help artists bring their songs to life, whether that’s through production, mixing, mastering, or all three.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Soulful
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Again the list is long. But to name some from the top of my head: Mahalia, Young Gun Silver Fox, Steve Lacy.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always focus on what feels best. Don’t let rules, references, or technical expectations get in the way of making the choice that moves you the most. Trust your instincts. If something gives you that spark, it’s probably the right call, even if it breaks the rules.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on pop, indie, soul, and related genres. A lot of the tracks I work on have strong vocals, live instruments, and emotional depth, but I’m also comfortable with more electronic or experimental elements when the song calls for it. I like music that blends organic and modern sounds in a natural way.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is understanding what a song needs and translating that into sound. Whether it’s through production, mixing, or subtle arrangement tweaks, I’m good at making choices that support the emotion and energy of a track. I’m also a strong communicator, which helps me stay aligned with the artist’s vision throughout the process.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I always try to bring to a song whatever it needs, based on the input of the artist. It helps to have a deep understanding of both music and the technical side of production, but in the end, the only thing that really matters is how it feels. I focus on capturing that feeling and making sure everything in the track supports it.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My process usually starts with a conversation to understand the artist’s vision and goals for the track. If I’m producing, I’ll start by building the arrangement around a demo or idea, making sure the vibe fits the song. If I’m mixing, I’ll organize and clean up the session, then focus on balance, tone, space, and emotion. I always check in with the artist along the way to make sure we’re on the same page. After the mix is approved, I can also handle mastering to get the track ready for release. I keep things organized and make sure the process is smooth, creative, and collaborative.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work from a treated home studio designed for accurate monitoring and a focused workflow. My setup is hybrid, combining high-quality plugins with a hands-on feel. I record, mix and master in Pro Tools and use a range of trusted tools from FabFilter, UAD, Softube, and others. For monitoring, I rely on a pair of precise studio monitors and reference headphones that I know well to make sure the mix translates well across systems. I also use real guitar pedals and clean DI signals when recording instruments, which helps keep things flexible and creative. Everything is set up to move quickly while still delivering professional, release-ready results.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: The list is very long. But on the top of the list I would say are: Steely Dan, Quincy Jones and Michael Brauer.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of the work I do involves producing, mixing, and sometimes mastering tracks for independent artists. Some clients come to me with a rough demo or voice memo, and I help them build a full arrangement around it. Others send me multitracks that need a clear, emotional mix to bring everything together. I also write and compose music, and some artists have used my demo productions as the foundation for their own songs. I always aim to elevate the track while keeping the artist’s vision front and center.
