Interview with Royalty The Dreamgirl

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Even though it was not a project and technically a contest, being a part of Timbaland's 2025 Orbiit Contest was very fun and I was so proud of myself. Even though I did not make it to the finals, but still made it all the way to the semi-finals, this competition showed me how fire my freestyle abilities were. Every week, I was writing a new freestyle to one of Timbaland's beats that he produced, whether it was a newer one or older one. This showcased my freestyle abilities to my supporters, to new fans who never knew of me, and more importantly to myself. This proved that if I put my mind to it, I can write as many songs for myself if I can do it for a contest.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: As of now, I am working on my first official album. I have yet to upload and drop a full project because I wanted to grow a fan base by doing freestyles and original singles for the first few years after revealing myself as a musician.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Elizabeth Tremaine for sure! She is an amazing singer, songwriter, producer, and has a lot of musical experience. She also has an in home studio so her turnaround times are quicker than most people.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: I vow to myself and to my clients that I will always execute to the fullest and put my best work out there. It would make no sense at all to work this hard to make a name and look for connections with other amazing people just to take advantage of the opportunities that could be our big break! I always work in excellence, with speed, and with a passion for what we do as musicians.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: I love that I can be known for not only my own work, but for the contributions that I have around the world. It's amazing to be a musician, but it feels even better being there to assist others, collaborate with others, and make the musical world a better place.

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: People think that since I am a Black girl that raps, that my music is going to have a lot of curse words, downgrading language about my body, or I am going to just sound like everyone else. That is not the case though!

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: Bring all your ideas and do not hesitate to ask anything that comes to mind. Just because one of my gifts or talents may not be listed on here, does not mean I can't provide that service for a reasonable price. Also, hire me to work along side me, not for me to do all the work. I like to work with people who are just as dedicated because two great minds is always better than just one.

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: Something that I can listen to beats on and write music on (like a phone but with no service so people can't talk to me), a cooler with food, a Bible, a comfortable bed or hammock to sleep in, and clean water.

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I was a college student from 202-2024 and I wanted to get my degree first. I've been writing music since about 2018, and I picked up a mic for the first time when I was 4 years old. So music has been my thing my whole life.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: Chic but in a hip-hop way. I love to be girly sometimes, but I would rather add a hat, chain, baggy jeans, or a nice jacket to throw in that extra pop. I'm not too big on skirts, dresses, and things that show too much of my body because I'm here to showcase my talent, not my body parts.

  21. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  22. A: I would love to work with Glorilla or Doechii. Their vibes are just so hype and amazing and I feel like it would be a great collab to show some extra girl power in today's world. I also wouldn't mind working with Kendrick Lamar or SZA as well.

  23. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  24. A: Do not rush the process! One thing you have to remember is that even though the world and social media seems to be moving fast, the song is still in the background and you can work on it at your own pace until it is perfect and actually ready to be released. Do not rush and then put out a song that could have been at a higher quality.

  25. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  26. A: Hip Hop, Pop, or R&B

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  28. A: Being able to switch up my cadences and language to add some extra spice to a song. My other strongest skill is honestly my choreography background. If we create a track and you want visuals I am willing to assist in that area as well.

  29. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  30. A: Versatility, Power, Bilingual Flares, Sass, and Attitude! Of course different things are brought to the table when the song's vibe is different, but as a whole? I always keep these things in my pen and pad ready to lay them on a track.

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: I hear the track and listen to the melodies and instruments. From there, my first step is to come up with a concept or theme that matches that flow of the instrumental. After I come up with a concept, I then think of ideas of the hook, and then start on writing verses for the song. Once the lyrical side of the song is finished, it is given to a professional producer to mix and master it.

  33. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  34. A: I am a huge Pharrell fan, Missy Elliot fan, (back in the day) Timbaland fan, and Dr.Dre fan. These producers/musicians are the main core to how I flow in my musicality and connect with instrumentals. As of now, I am inspired by artists such as: Teyana Taylor, Glorilla, Doja Cat, Victoria Monet, Coi Leray, Doechii, and SZA. There are many artists that inspire me, but these females have their own lane that they stay in with their artistry. They have their own unique styles, cadences, sounds, energies, and they are versatile in their gifts. All of them do music, but all of them can either dance, teach, speak in different languages, have great public speaking, can act, etc. That is the kind of artist that I am, so I look up to other artists who do the same.

  35. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  36. A: The most common work that I do is songwriting, vocals for the song, or featuring on a song that needs a rap artist. When clients ask for a feature, I can rap a verse (or two) or create a rap hook for the track. When clients need vocals, they can send me a soundtrack, beat, or whatever audio they need vocals over and I can provide them based on what you need. I do not sing, but I am willing to harmonize, do voiceovers, or even write poetry if a client does not want rap vocals. Lastly, I am able to assist artists in writing verses, hooks, or even concepts for their musical ideas.
