Danny is a super talented instrumentalist! Delivered beyond expected and made sure that everything is perfect on my end before I completed the project. Only asked him for a simple instrumental and created something I didn't know I wanted. I will definitely come back for more!

Needed to recreate accordion stems of a Mexican classic song for a house remix and the recreation by Danny was great performance wise and recording wise as well! Great working with him.
Interview with Danny Peña
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Getting started on social media! I'm a late adapter, even for my age. Just started a twitch channel to play live music at twitch.tv/dannypenamusic
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I'm only an accordion player. I'm also a very experienced regional Mexican producer!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Chromatic accordion, Acoustic Bass, Acoustic Guitar, Bajo Quinto, and something to record on.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Classical musicians inspire me to learn more, but pop musicians inspire me to enjoy more :-)
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Record accordion for a base track! Easily the most common. I wish I did more full production though!
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm proud of most of my projects, but the one that made me say "wow" is working with Damian Sanchez on a piece for the video game Temtem, it was the first video game I worked on and the one that stuck to me the most with the NDAs and all.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both, who cares what you use? Analog or digital are just tools, the line of 'quality' between them is getting more blurry each year too!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I get to stay home :-) kinda lonely though.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: For my portfolio, I just redirect them to my website, although I really have to add more portfolio there as well!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: BPM, Samplerate, Bitrate, accordion register, references, if any of these apply!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been playing accordion for a while now.. like almost 10 years, I don't remember really... I studied music technology.... and I record accordion for a LOT of people. Lately, I've been trying to get into social media a little more, but I definitely am a late adapter.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Adaptable (⌐■_■)
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I think any artist that has a good work ethic is someone I'd like to work with :-)
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't over-compress!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Lately, a lot of bosa nova, but anywhere from norteño to video game scoring!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Some squeezeebox flavor!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Some Owens corning on the home studio, stereo condensers, B&W802 speakers, computer with ProTools, Ableton, and Samplitude.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be open, great communication is the key to a beautiful project.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Listen to the client, listen to the track (if there's one), and go from there.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I don't know anyone on here :-(
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'll keep recording until you're happy.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I feel like a technology-driven audio engineer, so I think adapting is a strong skill :-)?

I usually allow as many revisions as a client needs to be happy with his project, and turn-around times really depend on how busy I am with current projects. Thanks!
