Interview with Jawara 2.14

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One of my favorite projects is our song “Understand Me” with GB3. I engineered, and co-wrote it. The song balances high energy with vulnerability, and seeing people jump to it live while still feeling the message—that’s what it’s all about.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I’m producing and mixing for my group GB3, working on our summer tour singles, and engineering songs for other underground artists with big potential. Everything I touch is designed to connect emotionally and cut through the noise.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: n/a

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital—because it gives me speed and freedom to explore. I love analog warmth, but in today’s world, digital lets you experiment more, move faster, and still get a crazy dope sound.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: Expect high-quality results with honest feedback, fast turnaround, and no shortcuts. If it doesn’t move me, I’ll keep working until it does making sure your song sound better than it did in your head.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Bringing ideas to life. I love creating something that can live on 4eva. The moment when a song finally hits that sweet spot—when it feels alive, like something you can’t forget. That emotional impact is what I live for.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: “Can you make this sound professional?” Absolutely—but more than that, I’ll make it sound undeniable. I focus on emotion, clarity, and making your record hit in the right places.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That it’s just about good gear or clean mixes. Real music-making is about taste, instinct, and knowing what not to do. The vibe is way more important than perfection.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What’s the vision or emotion behind the track? Who do you want it to sound like—or feel like? Are you open to creative direction or want it exactly how you hear it in your head?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Come with a vision or a vibe. I can build the rest. I work fast, give honest feedback, and care about making sure the final product feels like you. If you want heart and edge in your sound, I’m your guy.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: MacBook, Apollo Twin, Shure SM7B, MIDI keyboard, and my headphones. With those 5, I could still make a hit—even in the middle of nowhere.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started as an artist and songwriter, then taught myself production and mixing to fully control my sound. I’ve been creating music for 6+ years—writing, recording, mixing, and producing both for myself and others.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Melodic, edgy, Big, Anthem. Every song has the potential to be longevity and that's my goal.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Chris brown, Fridayy, Sza, Lil Uzi, Billie Ellish, they all know how to make dark emotion feel good.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Don't overthink it, if you like what you heard the first time stick to it and believe in yourself to know its good.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I work mostly on emotional, edgy pop and hip hop—anything that blends melody with raw feeling. Whether it’s underground love songs, heartbreak anthems, or hard-hitting bangers, I help bring the energy and the pain together.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Turning raw ideas into polished records. I can take a rough voice memo or beat idea and build it out into a fully arranged, mixed, and mastered song. I’m especially strong at enhancing emotion through sonics.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring tension, release, and soul. Whether I’m producing, writing, or mixing, my goal is to amplify the feeling so the listener connects instantly. I like to say my sound is “terrible but good”—raw, bold, and unforgettable.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I start by listening to the artist—understanding the vision, mood, or even just a few words they feel. Then I build the beat or structure around that emotion. I’ll layer it out, fine-tune details, mix clean with punch, and make sure everything flows top to bottom. It’s all about trust and feel.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I work out of a hybrid soundproof setup using Pro tools, FL Studio, , on a MacBook Pro. I have a Volt 1 Interface, JBL speakers, using plugins from Waves, and Antares, to mix clean, loud, and clear. My space is dialed in for high-energy creativity and fast workflow.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Pharrell for his bounce. Kanye for his fearlessness. Tyler, The Creator for his detail. Metro Boomin for his ear. I’m drawn to artists who blend emotion with energy and never sound like anyone else.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I help artists bring their ideas to life from scratch—whether it’s producing full records, building beats around vocals, songwriting, or mixing/mastering. I specialize in emotionally driven pop, hip hop, and alternative sounds that hit hard but stay melodic.
