Interview with Geraldine Taylor
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: As a multi talented artist I am usually working on several projects simultaneously. As well as writing original songs, I am creating a collection of poems, celebrity poems, anthology series, talent promotion project, modelling, novel writing, artist interviews and music merchandise.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To render an inspiring service to the best of my ability.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: On the whole everything, I was born to write. Specifically the opportunities to express my creativity through a range of outlets as well as to continually create opportunities for other artists to collaborate their efforts. Making a personal impact on lives and inspiring others is a daily aspect that forms the foundation of the work I do. My work is not really regarded as work to me, its a lifestyle and people connect with me both personally and professionally, you meet a lot of amazing creative people.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Any stereotypical viewpoints, for example 'Do you listen mainly to R n B'. I am very eclectic and appreciative of aspects universally, so compartmentalising doesn't reside with me. I listen to all music under the sun, including classical, opera, acoustic, house, soul, jazz; soundtracks ad infinitum.....
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What specific themes/concepts do you have in mind? Is there a particular style of genre you would like the song to be rendered in? Would you like the inclusion of poetic/metaphorical language within the song?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look for a provider who will aim to articulate the requested concepts to the best of their ability.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Period Novels; Music Player; Pens; Notebook; Camera
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Very poetic yet always with individual flair. As I am able to relate and collaborate with artists of a multitude of styles I aim not to compartmentalise my style description.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: My favourite artist Katherine Jenkins would be an honour to work with. As a songwriter whilst creating a song I always have in mind exactly the artist who would suit the vocal rendition of the song. A number of my songs would be well suited and similar to the songs that Katherine Jenkins sings so splendidly.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Aim for originality and make the project your own.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I cover a range of genres including pop, country, theatre, worship. I am naturally eclectic and possess an appreciation for music across the board. I am additionally inspired when the songs I have created are remixed and translated into other genres, such as electronic and opera ballads.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Poetic articulation and expression.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: As a natural poet I incorporate metaphorical language and illustrative concepts within my work. I possess a unique style of writing and I am able to articulate concepts that I am emotionally connected to.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Emeli Sande, Birdie, JP Cooper, Lukas Graham and Coldplay are among my leading musical inspirations. The continue to demonstrate originality, engaging creativity and are able to connect their audiences emotionally.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I create original song lyrics on a range of themes that can be translated into various genres.
