Blake Jurasin on SoundBetter

Diverse multi-genre Berklee grad guitarist who has successfully performed on festival stages and delivered superlative electric and acoustic guitar tracks based on an artist's needs.

As a session guitarist, my goal is to help you find and play the exact tone you envision when you hear guitar in your track, whether you're looking for an acoustic guitar, a twangy tele, a beefy Les Paul, an out of phase Strat, and much more.

Additionally, I can contribute backing or lead vocal tracks and provide input on arrangements.

I aim to be accommodating, easy to work with, and professional throughout the recording process. As with everything, open communication is key to creating a path forward with recordings, so my goal is to maintain a clear and effective line of communication throughout the process.

Achievements include
-Recording and Performing with Trashy Annie (on a new recording pending release), Bethany Becker, The Levites, Abundant Life Church, several recording sessions with the members of Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers
-Performed at festivals such as ACL, SXSW, MusikFest, and NAAM Jam at House of Blues Anaheim.
-Nominee for Josie Music Awards for my 2019 EP "Who I Was."
-Full-time recording and internationally touring guitarist

From Gospel to Metal to Acoustic music and everything in between, Blake can just about play it all. He is a consummate professional to go along with his amazing skills on the guitar. His care for the music as well as the intentions of the artist are what sets him apart.

Blake is the best!!! Amazing player and wonderful to work with. He has a diverse skill set and can crank out quality material in any genre that we’ve thrown at him. Always has a smile and is super patient. You won’t be sorry. Get him before he’s famous cause it’s gonna happen.

Blake is a true professional! I have worked with him on multiple sessions, and he strikes a great balance between listening to the artist's needs, suggesting fresh ideas, and executing when the red light is on. Highly recommended!

I have worked with Blake Jurasin for nearly ten years and can vouch that he is the guy you want. He is the most talented guitarist I have ever met and is super easy to work with. Most recently he tracked guitar, vocals, and helped produce my EP “If the Boot Fits.” I have worked with Grammy winners in Nashville, and Blake’s work blew theirs out of the water. If I could give him a million stars, I would.

Interview with Blake Jurasin

  1. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  2. A: Clean electricity is the best electricity.

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: My current gigs have me playing Gospel, Pop, Country, and Rock. I also play Blues, Funk, Soul, Metal, Acoustic, and much more.

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: Aside from my technical proficiency on my guitar, I believe that soft skills like active listening and communication are vital to the recording process.

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: I pour myself into every single note I play. Whether you need ambient textures, a ripping fast guitar solo, slower and sustained leads, rhythmic comping, or anything else, I put my best effort into every track.

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: With online recordings, I prefer to speak with a client about their needs before I record a single note to ensure that I fully understand what he/she is looking for in a recording. From there, we'll track several takes and make sure that the artist is getting exactly what they paid for.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: It's a standard setup for electric guitar: Fractal FM9 into Logic for electric guitar. For acoustic guitar, I have a variety of mics and mic placements that I've experimented with in order to produce the best sound. For voice, simple microphone into my audio interface.

  13. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  14. A: Guitarists like Mike Landau, Tim Pierce, Andy Timmons, and Guthrie Govan all inspire me. They adapt their skills to fit into any musical situation.

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: When recording, I normally bring about 3 or 4 guitars with me to a session so I'm ready to add different timbres to a session. My job in most scenarios is to deliver exactly what the artist needs in their recording.
