Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I specialize in mixing and mastering, working with clients across a wide range of genres, from jazz and improvised music to pop, R&B and hip-hop.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: While I appreciate the charm and artistry of working with analog gear and tactile controls, I ultimately achieve better results in the digital domain, with a faster and more creative workflow to match. Digital offers me recallability and control.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Mixing: Once I receive the files and payment, I start by preparing the session and carefully listening through everything. If anything is missing or needs fixing, I promptly notify the client. Then, I dive into the mixing process. Most of the time, I can complete the bulk of the work within a couple of days. I typically deliver the first mix to the client within about a week. If there are any notes or revisions, I address them quickly and provide updates. Fast, smooth, and effective communication is very important to me! Mastering: For mastering, I begin by listening to the song outside of the DAW to ensure the mix is balanced and free of technical issues. Once everything checks out, I schedule the mastering session. Singles are usually completed within a day or two, while albums take about one to two weeks, depending on the complexity.
