I'm Aldo Portillo, a Mixing & Mastering Engineer from Mexico holding a Higher Education Diploma from Point Blank Music School.
As someone who, not more than a year ago, was struggling with identifying problems in my own mixes, I know how frustrating it can be when your music doesn’t sound the way you imagine it. That feeling is still fresh for me, which is why I focus on making the process simple and approachable, breaking down the technical side so you can focus on the creative.
With a diverse taste in music, having worked on sound engineering in multiple genres, and critical listening skills I’m proud of, I have the versatility to deliver professional-quality mixes and masters in any style, without limitations.
My goal is to deliver top-notch mixes and masters that preserve the emotion of your music, while also sharing updates and incorporating your feedback and requests every step of the way. All of this at a fair and approachable price.

Interview with Aldo Portillo
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I have to list several of my projects from Point Blank Music School, even if some are better than others, precisely because they show my progress and how far I’ve come over the past two years. The growth in quality and craftsmanship from one project to the next makes me proud of my progress not only in Mixing and Mastering, but also in Production, Sound Design, and the other courses I took at Point Blank. Through my time as a student, the long days and late nights working on my mixes, masters, and my own creative projects, have really stapled the start of my career as both an artist and a sound engineer. This is something that I must take pride in, as there really isn't much of a local foundation for sound engineering in my hometown, so I hold this experience very closely, just as I will with the opportunities that come to me in this platform.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Currently, I am focused on launching my professional career as a sound engineer, and this is the ideal place for me to do so. On the other hand, I continue to refine my production and composition skills to pursue my creative goals as an artist. I am also saving up to expand my studio's arsenal both digitally and acoustically.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: That I can't fully describe it to those who ask. There is simply too much to explain in a simplified way; the topic is too deep and has plenty of caves that must be explored to be fully comprehended.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My laptop, my interface, my headphones, my charger, and a bottle of water.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Versatile. I've worked with a wide variety of materials, and I've learned to adapt with creative solutions that I can always bend towards other genres or workflows.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: All of them. I want to expand my horizons and experience as much as possible, and help as many people as I can to take their sound to a professional quality.
