Estudio Suecia on SoundBetter

I'm an award winning producer and songwriter and I've been working with several artists in the last ten years. People come to work with me because I love spending time exploring new ideas and get to know the inner artist we all have. Together we can bring emotion, passion, elegance and power to all your songs!

Hey! I'm Martina Petric and I founded Estudio Suecia (Barcelona). I started my career as a solo artist in 2019 when I released my first album "Velvet", an album that led me to win "Best New Artist" for Indigo Awards (2019) and to be nominated for Pulsar Awards (2019 ) in the same category. I have been working as a songwriter and producer for other artists for several years now. I love getting to know new voices and projects, being able to help make arrangements and make the most of what we have in a creative and honest way.
I'm also a singing teacher so vocal production is my passion. I've been working with students that then become artists and I love to be there in every step of the way, so if you're a new artist, you're in the perfect place.
When people work with me they can be part of the process and except to achieve a beautiful and amazing result, because I'm a 100% committed to always do the best.

Working with Martina in her studio was such a wonderful experience. From the start, she made me feel comfortable and truly listened to. She's incredibly professional, but what stood out most was her warmth and the way she communicates, always making sure we were on the same page. You can tell she loves what she does, and it shows in every detail. If you're looking for someone reliable and passionate about music, Martina is the perfect choice. I highly recommend her!

Martina was the one who pushed me and who has supported me since the beginning of my musical career.
Each one of my songs has gone through her studio, and has resulted in something better than I expected.
Today I can find in her a partner, with whom I can share the creative process, exchange ideas and reach the sound I am looking for.
Excellent guiding, teaching and understanding skills. 100% recommended Estudio Suecia.

I've worked with Martina in various projects, from composing and producing some comercial projects to creating a personal song for relatives aniversaries, I recommend her to all my friends in the music scene. She is professional, proactive and has a deep understanding of the complexities of musical production.

Interview with Estudio Suecia

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I'm working with a few artist. One of them is making this sweet love song, very minimalist and elegant. And the other one wants a "Paradis" kind of song and it's sounding amaaazing.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Both. If you have the chance to use analog equipment, amazing! but honestly I believe that we are in a digital area and sometimes all depends on how you use things. I depends on what you're working on.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: I will never be mediocre or leave you halfway. I'm all in, if you want a reggaeton or an acoustic song, I'll make sure you're really happy with the result.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: That moment when you show the song to the artist and they love it! I love when you can really get what they want and they fall in love. You can really make people happy and that's super powerful.

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: That you need a huge studio to make a great song. Great songs don't start in a big and fancy place necessarily. You can be at the beach recording with your phone and it could be amazing too. Also, if you want a professional recording, it doesn’t take the best hardware or the best equipment. Lots of artist have made amazing tunes with our dear and classic SM58.

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: I always try to understand what they really want, if they want por example to make a hit and be a pop star or they want to make something meaningful for them. It all depends on what you want and what you wanna achieve. I personally think that every decision is valid and as a professional I want to get you there.

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: Be ready to explore and feel the music. To learn a lot and to be part of the process. I don't like to do stuff and just send it later, I like for my costumers to understand everything that's going on their songs.

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: This is an awful question! I think my guitar 100% and I already carry my voice everywhere so I think I can survive on a desert with just that.

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I started writing songs when I was about 14 years old. After finishing school I studied singing and took several workshops on production and composition. I always had friends in studios and I spent a lot of time with them there, learning and recording. At 25 years old I decided that I wanted to stop being in bands and launch my solo career. I started producing more and more and I fell in love with it so when I arrived in Barcelona I studied a specialization in Music Production and worked as an assistant in one of the most important studios in the city. Now I have my studio at home where I receive artists, work remotely and also teach classes. I'm 33 now so basically I've been writing music my whole life.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: I think my style is a mix of sensuality and warm textures. I love vintage sounds with a touch of modern. I love to dig deep in people's ideas and work with them step by step.

  21. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  22. A: I would love to work with Romy right now. I feel she's getting in to this super nice mix between dance music and her soft voice. I would love to collaborate with her in any way.

  23. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  24. A: Never erase anything you do. Always work with some reference so you know where your north is. And when you feel frustrated, don't keep pushing yourself, go watch videos of artists that inspire you and come back to it after a while with a clear head. And well, take time to really find the sound you want.

  25. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  26. A: Lately I'm working on pop, r&b and some electronic styles. For now I'm varying between pop/r&b, some Lo-Fi too and bands like the style of Paradis, The Marías, etc.

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  28. A: My voice is my superpower, I can do anything with it and vocal production is something I love. Creating juicy layers of harmonies with vocals and feeling the song grow and become giant. My other main skill is that I have always made songs super fast, creating a well-packed, well-rounded and catchy verse and chorus is what I do best so in 30 minutes I can have a pop song stuck into your brain.

  29. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  30. A: I love to think of songs as a way to make people feel and get excited and I think that's what I've achieved so far. My way of working is always based on feelings, on not losing our essence and that's exactly what makes me love my job. And I will like to say that is my trade mark as well.

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: When I write for myself, I like to find a sound that I love and that makes me vibrate. This can be a beat, an arpeggio or a chord progression with some sweet electric piano for example. If I like it enough, I create a structure for the song so I can put my voice on it. I'll probably spend 5 hours on this and I won't even notice. If it's for other artists, I like to listen to their references, understand well how the song sounds in their heads and thus be able to get a result that satisfies them and makes them happy. The tricky part is to create something that people hear only in their minds, so communication is the most important thing.

  33. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  34. A: My studio is a small but cozy space, acoustically treated. I have an Audient ID44 which I adore and a couple of super versatile microphones like the classic AKG 414, which I really like for guitars and vocals. I also have a beautiful Taylor GS Mini and a Fender American Professional Stratocaster, both of which have been my lifelong companions whether for the studio or live shows.

  35. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  36. A: My biggest inspiration as a singer and songwriter has been Sade. Achieving a unique and globally recognizable voice is the most iconic thing someone can do. In the field of music production I would say that "blood orange" and "tears for fears" have marked a before and after in my way of listening to songs.

  37. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  38. A: There is a lot of versatility in my work. I often help new artists develop their careers, either by writing for them or producing. I like to be fully involved in the process. The most common thing is to work with emerging artists and also take songs to the next level by helping to finish melodies, create choruses, etc.
