I currently play fiddle, guitar and sing for Bastille, and previously toured with alt-J and folk musician and actor Johnny Flynn. I have been a session player for over 20+ years, recorded and released my own music and written for film and TV.
I'm a multi-instrumentalist (guitar and fiddle) and singer-song writer based in London performing under the alias AK Patterson. I make alt-folk/ indie music that is often dark, narrative based and gritty. My past two releases have been produced by Mercury Prize winning producer, Charlie Andrew who also produces alt-J, Madness and the new David Gilmour album.
As a session musician my specialty is in folk fiddle primarily within the Irish tradition but I can also span across, Scottish, English, and American/ old timey styles of playing. I have arranged strings for films in the past, including a feature film 'Adira's Dream' that was nominated for best sound design at Idyllwild Film Festival in the USA.
I'm a highly versatile singer. I have worked on genres spanning from folk to prog rock. Most notably I sang on Johnny Flynn's last album "The moon also rises" and appeared in multiple session videos for Bastille. My voice has been used in multiple syncs including the song 'Kick Punch' which was featured in the Netflix film 'The Courier' and 'In Between' by Finnegan Tui which featured on the American TV show, Walker Independence.
