Hi, I'm Keir — professional vocalist, songwriter & producer with 8+ years' experience, hailed by The Scottish Sun as "Scotland's next big breakthrough talent." Songwriting credits include Dasha's Warner Records album and Yim Siwan's SM Entertainment K-pop title track. Own music: multiple BBC Radio 1 playlist adds (Best New Pop), 10M+ streams.
I've been fortunate enough to work as a musician and artist full time, an opportunity that has given me credits with lots of talented artists from all over the world as well as an artist project of my own. I specialise in Pop, Folk, Alt, Indie, EDM, Rock and Singer-Songwriter vocals and songwriting.
For vocal-only hires, my price includes any vocal layers you might need - leads, backgrounds, doubles, harmonies, adlibs, gang vocals, etc. For songwriting hires, once the job has started, all I need from you is the BPM, a few references, and any notes on the kind of topline/lyric you're looking for, and I'll be happy to get to work.
Not sure if I'm the right fit for your song? Message me and I'll send a free 30-second vocal snippet so you can hear how it sounds before committing.
Helping other artists bring their art to life is one of my favourite things to do - if you think I might be a good fit for your project, click the 'Contact Keir' button above and let's get started!

check_circleVerifiedKeir is top notch! His ear for melodies & his songwriting ability is incredible. We're blown away by the demo he delivered us. He was kind, patient and poured his heart out into the song. Highly recommend him for your projects!

I’ve had the pleasure of working with keir 7-8 times and have loved every song we’ve made. He is one of the most talented singer/ songwriter combos I know- his sense of melody is so unique and he doesn’t settle for anything better than the best lyrics. On top of that, his voice is so soulful that it brings out the best in everything we write. He’s also a prolific producer and piano/guitar player. Will definitely be working with Keir again!

Keir is quite possibly the most talented singer I’ve ever met, and somehow on top of that he’s one of the best songwriters and producers I know as well. If you want not only a truly professional sounding product but also one that will make you feel deeply, hire Keir!!
Interview with Keir Gibson
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: One of my proudest credits is co-writing "Share This City" with Dasha and Travis Heidelman for her breakout album What Happens Now? Dasha came into the session fresh off a breakup and told us how it had reshaped her whole hometown — the places that used to feel like "theirs" now felt off-limits, even though all she wanted was to still be able to share them with him, knowing they couldn't be together. My role was helping turn that feeling into a clear, specific concept and building the song around it — taking something so personal to her and shaping it into a hook that anyone who's lost that kind of connection to a place can relate to.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm currently working on several different projects across varying genres for other artists as well as my own second EP project.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: My good friend Lev is one of the best writers and vocalists i know and would highly recommend him to anyone.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I mostly work in the box as it allows me to work faster and be more efficient when making creative decisions.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will always be very clear about timeline expectation's and try my best to get the work done to fit your schedule.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Helping other artists bring their art to life — that's genuinely one of my favourite parts of this work.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: The most common one is "how do I know you're the right fit before I commit?" My answer: message me and I'll send a free 30-second vocal snippet so you can hear how it sounds first.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That recording vocals doesn't take a long time... I sing each part of the song dozens of times to hone in on the exact phrasing, tone and emotionality that the song needs in order to bring it to life in the best way possible.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: For songwriting: the BPM, a couple of reference tracks, and any notes on the kind of topline or lyric you want. For vocals: which layers you need (lead, harmonies, doubles, adlibs, gang vocals) and any tone/reference to match.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Send a clear reference or two and be upfront about the vibe you're going for — the more direction I have on tone and topline, the faster I can get you something that fits.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Teenage Engineering OP-1, Macbook Pro, Apollo Twin X, Flea U47 Mic, Orangewood Juniper Baritone Rubber Bridge Guitar
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been writing, recording, and performing professionally for 8+ years, working full-time as a musician and artist. That's included writing credits on Dasha's Warner Records album and the title track of Yim Siwan's SM Entertainment K-pop debut, alongside BBC Radio 1 airplay and an artist project of my own.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Emotive and melodic, with a pop sensibility no matter the genre I'm working in
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Bon Iver would be my first pick as i have always had such a deep appreciation for the emotion that he captures in his music through his lyrics and incredible sound design and textures.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: When comping vocal takes, don't just pick the most technically perfect one — pick the take with the most believable emotion, even if it has small imperfections. Listeners connect to feeling before they notice flaws.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Folk, Alt, Indie, EDM, Rock, and Singer-Songwriter material.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Being able to bring depth and emotionality to any vocal performance that the client is after.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: As an artist myself, i understand the relationship between all of the element's it takes to make a great song and can bring any idea to life while making sure that i capture the correct emotion that the client is trying to convey. I also bring versatility across genres — Pop, Folk, Alt, Indie, EDM, and Rock — plus 8+ years writing and recording, so I can adapt to a wide range of styles and briefs rather than sounding like one thing.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: For songwriting hires, I start with the BPM, a few reference tracks, and notes on the kind of topline or lyric you're after, then get to work and share a demo for feedback. For vocal-only hires, I record all the layers you need — leads, harmonies, doubles, adlibs — in one pass so you get a complete, ready-to-mix vocal.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a studio in LA with everything I need to make professionally sounding radio ready prodcutions. Some of my gear is: UAD Apollo Twin X, Flea U47 micAston Spirit mic, Neve 1084 preamp, Ableton 12, Teenage Engineering OP-1, Chase Bliss FX Pedals, 1930's Marshal & Rose Upright Piano, Martin D-28 Acoustic Guitar, Fender 50's Telecaster, Orangewood Juniper Rubber Bridge Guitar.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: A lot of my biggest inspirations in terms of writing and production are artists like Bon Iver, Gregory Alan Isakov, Lord Huron as well as other artists such as Jon Bellion and Mont Duamel.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of my work splits into three lanes: providing professional vocals (leads, harmonies, backing vocals, doubles, adlibs) for producers and artists who need a voice on their track. Songwriting/topline work, where I build melody, lyrics, and vocal arrangement around a client's instrumental. Production work where I play all instruments, write arrangements and build an entire professionally sounding track around the clients song idea to bring it to life.
