JIMMY ROCKS!! He had such a solid song and it was a pleasure for me to get to sing on it. And from start to finish, communication was excellent. It was an overall amazing collaboration and I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again!
Jimmy is the man!! So talented and easy to work with! I recorded vocals for a song he was remixing and I loved how it turned out. He's also remixed an original song of mine and knocked it out of the park. Hire him!!
Interview with JIMMY ROCK
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Currently working on my debut album - 14 songs (5 covers and 9 originals). It's the greatest piece of work I've ever done. It's my life's work! There are so many amazing artists on it, songwriters... it's gonna be incredible once its finished!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to invest myself as if the song is my own. My sound and branding are important to me, so if I'm going to co-sign a song that we are working on together, I promise to give it my all.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I'm a music producer and a DJ. I love testing out the music I'm working on in a live setting. Does this song work in a club? in an arena? maybe a stadium? I love making dance music and the people are sometimes my lab mice.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been a full time DJ and music producer since 2010. I grew up playing drums in church, I started young, maybe 11 years old. Got into choir in high school, joined a Pop Punk band, followed by playing keys, songwriter and hype man for a Rap/Hip Hop group shortly after high school. I also learned to play a little violin, bass and trombone on the way too!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: House & EDM with mixes of Pop, Latino, and Rap.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I'd love to co-produce a track with Calvin Harris, as for a singers I'd love to work with it would be Justin Timberlake and Daddy Yankee.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I've worked mostly with Christian artists so far, but I've also worked music for sync licensing as well.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Thinking outside of the box. Creating something new and unique. I try to avoid re-creating something that's already been done before.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Unique style and blend of musical production. My production is usually very percussion forward, with a blend of heavy bass, pianos, synths and effects.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: For an original song, I'd love to hear any demos or ideas the artist has and I can produce a track around the vibe I'm getting from the rough demo. For remixes, I prefer to listen to the original recording first to make sure it's something I can/want to remix. I can be a little picky with whom I work with, but I can guarantee that whoever I do work with will get my full attention until the song is finished.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I produce mainly in Logic Pro X. I have a ton of plug-ins for production; SoundToys, Xfer Records, iZotope, Nexus, Rocket Powered Sound, Antares, Softube Central, Exhale, Komplete Kontrol, Guitar Rig 5 Factory Selection, Massive, The Finger , and TRK-01 Bass.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Tiesto, John Summit, Armin van Buuren, Calvin Harris, Hardwell.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Produce EDM originals and remixes. Also work with CCM, Latin and Christian Rap.
