We brought Matt in to tighten up the mix of our new EP and he couldn't have been more helpful. We were specifically looking for clarity and space between the instruments, as well as huge-sounding drums and professional-quality vocal production. He understood exactly what we were looking for and delivered a fantastic mix. He was professional and friendly and was more than happy to make tweaks and send back as many updated versions of the mix as we required. We'll be working with him again soon.

Interview with Matthew Langdon

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: I promise that you will love your track and feel proud of it. If you hire me to complete a job I will work hard until the sound that you envision has come to life, working closely with you so that your dream becomes a reality.

  3. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  4. A: My biggest strength is blending technical know-how with creative flair. I’m great at making sure mixes sound both clean and professional while still capturing the artist’s vibe and emotions.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: As a mixing engineer and producer, I bring a keen ear for detail and a deep understanding of how to balance and enhance every element of a song. I focus on elevating the overall sound to ensure clarity, cohesion, and emotional impact, while also collaborating closely with artists to realize their unique vision and style.

  7. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  8. A: I currently work completely in the box on Logic Pro when mixing using my M3 Pro chip MacBook Pro with 36GB of ram, meaning I can handle massive projects with ease. I use Yamaha HS8 studio monitors to complete the majority of my mixing as well as mastering and AKG K240 headphones for tracking and work that requires. As well as this I use a Nektar SE49 MIDI keyboard along with a wide variety of Native Instruments and Spitfire audio sound libraries for my composing. For guitars I use a PRS Custom 24 electric, a Tanglewood Electro-Acoustic and an Ibanez SR300E Bass.

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: Most of my time I spend mixing which I love doing, taking a new song recently recorded and developing it into something exciting is such a great experience. I also regularly work on producing a piece of music from a demo into a fully working track. Re - recording parts in my home studio, tidying up tracks and mixing it into a polished piece of music and helping others to realise their musical ideas.
