I'm a professional pop producer, sample creator & mixing engineer with over 10 years of experience, having worked with hundreds of artists worldwide and collaborated with major labels like Universal and Warner Music as well as for several Sync Agencies.

Hey, I´m Magnus also known as AUDIO MG. I began as an beat selling producer on YouTube / Beatstars in 2017 and have worked with hundreds of artists either directly or as a collaborator.

My sound is a unique mix of modern synth pop infused with an organic touch, creating a rich auditory experience that feels both fresh and authentic. I use acoustic and electric guitars on my productions as well as the most classic synth emulations to create a vintage synth sounds for unique melodies and textures.

Interview with AUDIO MG

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I worked on a song for a Hersheys commercial which was really fun to do.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I´m working on an EP for Warner Music Germany with a very talented singer from Berlin. Looking forward to finish this EP and show it to you.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: No, I´m new to this site and did not make any connections so far.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! It´s the mix between analog and digital sound that makes a production special in my opinion.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I do the best I can to make a great song with you.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being creative and doing what I love for a living. I can express myself trough my music and help others do to that with their songs, too.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What´s the sound like you want to achieve and what mood do you want to deliver.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I think it´s really important that you find someone who sees music the way you do and that the producer is able to understand you musically. Also it's never wrong to connect well with others on a personal level.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Acoustic Guitar, Laptop, Headphones, Keyboard, Microphone.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started as a producer for a local hip hop group as a teenager in 2009. Moved to Hamburg in 2010 and successfully finished my Audio Engineering Diploma. Since 2014 I´m a freelancer as a mixing & mastering engineer and in 2017 I started to sell my beats online via my own onlineshop.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I don´t like to make either happy or sad music. Everything I do is a mix between both emotions. I think you can call it like an overall nostalgic sound. Maybe sad but happy if that makes sense. And as I said in my bio, I also like to mix very synthetic sound with acoustic elements.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I really would like to work with LAUV and Lany. Their sound is very inspiring for me and they always find the perfect blend between nostalgic synth music and an acoustic, warm and authentic sound.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Never stop listening to other producers and songs in general. This is not only crutial for being up to date but also getting new input which drives your creativity. Not input, no output! :)
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Everything between Pop, Electronic and Indie.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I have a strong attention to detail, which ensures that I approach every project with precision and care. Creativity is at the heart of everything I do, and I’m always looking for new ways to push boundaries and express unique ideas through my music. Along with that, I pride myself on being reliable and delivering high-quality work on time.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Creativity & a unique sound.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Usually I ask the artists what kind of production he/she likes and ask for some references. Than I just start with a very basic idea and if the client likes it we continue on working this out until both are satisfied.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: In my studio, I’ve created a comfortable and inspiring workspace in a small farmhouse on the countryside in western Germany. It’s a peaceful environment that really enhances my creativity. For monitoring, I use Yamaha studio monitors, which provide a clean and balanced sound, perfect for mixing and production. My microphone setup includes a few Røde mics, known for their clarity and versatility, allowing me to capture everything from vocals to acoustic instruments with great detail. I have a few guitars that I use for different tones and styles, depending on the project I’m working on, as well as some M-Audio MIDI keyboards for composing and arranging. They’re very intuitive and help me easily map out ideas. Overall, my studio is simple but well-equipped, and it allows me to work efficiently while staying connected to the natural environment around me.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Benny Blanco, Jack Antonoff, Ryan Tedder, Oscar Görres, NOTD, Shy Martin and many more. I really like a lot of swedish pop producers for their unique sound.
