Interview with Francisco Ojeda

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I'm currently working on an EP from the Argentinian musican Cristian Gez and I'm very proud of it because we manage to combine some good song-writing across different genres, like Zamba, Bolero, Cumbia, Jazz and Rock that Cristian writes with plenty of synth based ambience, reverb-esque ambience, sampling, that are my area of expertise, and also with some chamber instrument arrangement that involves duos like Clarinet and Viola for example. My role was producing and recording, but I also had the plesaure to focus mainly on the producing aspect, and we record some of the vocals, and all the drums at Maya Studio here in Córdoba. The last track, Ser, unreleased for the moment, involves several layers of sampling, synths and vocal layering with a rock arrangement, so instead of handing the mixing to someone else, Cristian prefered that I mixed that track.

  3. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  4. A: I do everything ITB. I use Ableton Live as my main DAW, and work on a M1 Max Macbook with headphones (Sennheiser HD650) in order to work from Chile or Argentina, the two countries where I'm based. Also have my home studio in Córdoba, Argentina where I track guitars (PRS, Godin) and bass through an audient id44 mk2. I track vocals with either a replicate of a U87 by Pato Baumann (recognized microphone builder in Argentina) and Shure SM7B.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: Lucet's "Luminicidio" Cristian Gez's "Ser"

  7. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

Also Jose Gabriel Gentile who lives in Córdoba, and Andres Mayo, from Buenos Aires, are some great producers I admire that I've seen offer their work here. I would recommend them with my eyes closed to any of my clients who want a premium service.

  9. Q: Analog or digital and why?
