Hunter was great to work with. He communicated promptly and nailed the vocal vibe I wanted. Looking forward to working with him again.

Interview with Hunter Jordan

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I'm currently working on my songwriting catalog while also working on my first single release as a solo artist.

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: Jacob Lutz. I've worked numerous hours with him on my personal projects. He can literally do it all. You can trust him with your project.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: I will take your project seriously. I will make it the best it can be. I will treat you with the utmost respect.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: I'm literally living my dream. I can't complain and if I did it wouldn't do me any good.

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: That's it's all fun and games. Being a pro level musician should be taken just as seriously as any other respected occupation.

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: Expected turn around time? Reference track/singer? Things you know you want present? Things you know you don't want present?

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: Have a clear vision of what you want. At the end of the day, it's your project. I want to help bring YOUR vision to life.

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: My acoustic guitar, pen and paper (for writing purposes), gaff tape (you seriously never know when you could need it), drum sticks, my D'Addario backpack

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I was originally in health care, but felt God leading me in another direction. I've now been a full time singer/songwriter for the last 6 years.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: My style is a blend of my favorite genres. Pop, Country, Hip Hop, and Rock influences all shine through in the various projects I've worked on.

  21. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  22. A: I'd like to work with Jameson Rodgers. He fully encompasses what is means to be singer/songwriter. He's very strong in both areas.

  23. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  24. A: Get in a good headspace before entering a project. Don't be scared to walk away and come back to a project. It's better to take multiple sessions than to force a session just for the sake of getting it completed fast. It just leads to really sloppy work.

  25. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  26. A: Typically country, but my experience in the country subgenres is extensive. Anything from rock, pop, traditional, and even rap based country.

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  28. A: My strongest skill is my vocal power. I can go after those big notes that create a "moment" within the song.

  29. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  30. A: I bring a realness and genuineness. I bring a more raw unique sound that makes the track stand out above the crowd.

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: I like to listen to a track a few times and get a feel for it. I want to really connect with it beyond a surface level before I dive into it. I want to bring the most out of the song that I possibly can.

  33. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  34. A: I run Protools off of my iMac with the industry standard SM7B mic

  35. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  36. A: Morgan Wallen, Hardy, Luke Combs, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bryan Adams, Joey Moi, Cody Johnson, Sam Hunt

  37. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  38. A: I primarily lat lead vocals and help in any way I can with songwriting and melodies.
