Professional mixing engineer and producer specialising in rock, indie and pop.
My name is Neil and I’m a professional mixing engineer and producer with over 20 years experience in the rock, indie and pop genres. Based out of The Old Blacksmiths Studios in Portsmouth, UK, I have worked on countless records with both local and national artists. A highlight of mine was the chance to work with Frank Turner on his 2011 album ‘England Keep My Bones’. I pride myself on my ability to take projects to the next level and unlock the sound my clients desire. As well as being easy to work with I deliver my mixes in a timely manner with good communication throughout. Click the play button to listen to a showreel of my recent work.

Endorse Neil Thomas ElliottI have worked with Neil on many projects over the last 12 years and I cannot fault him for his ability, dedication, passion and quality of work. His skills as a recording/mixing engineer and producer are second to none and in every session he really delivers. Tracking sessions are organised, speedy and most importantly fun. He invests in you as an artist and truly wants to help you make the record you want. His mixes never fail to impress when you first hit that play button. You truly never sounded so good! It's always a pleasure to work with him and there's never a reason not to go back.
Neil has been an absolute pleasure to work with when it has come to mixing and producing our songs. We first came to him without ever setting foot in a studio and he has been amazing at explaining the processes to us, as well as giving interesting facts about music production and mixing techniques. We have recorded 6 songs with him and he has mixed 4 of them so far, which sound better than we could have ever imagined and we are honestly blown away every time he first sends a new mix to us! Would strongly recommend to any band looking to give their songs a professional touch!
Neil is easily one of the most innovative, quick thinking, efficient and creative producers I have had the pleasure of working with. Having worked with him on multiple records now, I still haven’t found anyone that works in the way that he does. He has great sense of efficiency to make your time and money well spent, but also with plenty of creative “know how” and passion to ensure every single take is given the time it needs. Add his ability to create a fun, music loving atmosphere with plenty of room for new ideas, it makes him one of the best!
Working with Neil is terrific. He is not only a first rate sound engineer and producer- he is an excellent musician. This enables him to support the recording process with clarity and understanding of genre, style and and individual requirements. He reads music and for our band that was a real bonus as we have clarinet, saxophones and flutes scored for performance.
And of course he is a great guy with a lovely sense of humour which makes the sessions enjoyable and easy.. I have worked with other engineers and producers: Neil has been by far the best.Project 1 and our first session, Neil saved us from disaster and hundreds of pounds wasted after a car crash with another studio. We came to him with just the stems and he salvaged what we had into what back our 3rd EP.
Project 2 - was from scratch and the professionalism and nature of how he structured the run order was unreal. His input was well delivered, his feedback valid, and often he would suggest and present ideas that added value but also didn't take offence if it wasn't what we wanted. The end product was superb and delivered to spec and timeline. Needless to say 10/10
I've worked with Neil on 3 full length albums and a couple of EPs so far, with each sounding better than the last. He knows how to bring out the best in the songs with the mix, actions all comments/revisions, and communicates well throughout. I'm looking forward to our next project together.
Have worked with many producers and engineers, and have to say, the final product from Neil was far superior! Very honest and fun guy to work with too - so if he's on your shortlist, save yourself time and just go with him.
Neil's a superb engineer and producer, not just from the way he approaches recording and the mix itself, but also the other crucial things any good engineer should have like good, precise communication and always being open to ideas. Talented, organised, ace.
Neil has been recording, mixing and contributing to my various bands for several years, and it's always a pleasure working with him
Always amazed by Neil’s work. His contributions to my tracks are always incredible and the final mixes come back sounding clean, radio ready and uniquely tailored to my sound. I would highly recommend to any other singer/songwriter or band looking to elevate their material to the next level and get that professional sound!
