I've been mixing, writing, producing and recording music for 30 years. I've worked professionally in a number of genres, from DnB to Alt-rock. I'm still writing, recording and mixing my own music under the name Pure Assassins (check the album Questions on streamers for examples of my most recent mixing).
I always just want to get the mix sounding the way you envision it. I like to mix to example mixes(pro artists you love the sound of) the artist sends me so I can get as close as possible to what they want to hear when the project is finished.
