Producer & synth designer with a passion for bringing raw ideas to life—crafting unique sounds for indie, rock, and heavy music.
I specialize in indie pop, rock, and heavy synth production, helping artists craft unique, polished records that stand out. My work spans Pop Rock, Pop Punk, Post-Hardcore, and Metalcore, with additional experience in Pop and Hip-Hop production.
I work from both a treated home studio and a professionally treated recording studio in Hamburg, Germany, using a mix of analog and digital synths to create everything from lush atmospheric textures to hard-hitting, cinematic soundscapes. Whether you need full production, additional synth layers, or detailed sound design, I bring the depth and energy your track needs.
Beyond production, I have a strong background in arrangement and sound design, ensuring that every element of a song fits seamlessly together. My productions have been featured in various artist releases, and I work with both independent musicians and established bands to help shape their sound.

Interview with Kester Hrubesch
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I have started working with a Pop Rock Band from Canada a while ago doing synths, productions and backing tracks for them. We've completed an album and although all communication was online its great to work with cool people in a long-term!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I have worked with Scott Thomas Robinson. He is great!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Once I have a solid foundation for a song I tend to go very experimental with sound design. This way has been proven to be very helpful for the bands and artists I'm working with.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I'm working either with my Mac Studio or MacBook Pro. I've got a Arturia KeyLab 88 and a Hydrasynth Explorer. For Monitors I use KRK Rokit. I've got an Epiphone Les Paul, as well as three more electric guitars, a bass, an acoustic guitar and a western guitar. For toplining I'm using the Rode NT1-A.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm producing a song for an Indie artist and a Hip Hop EP.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog! You can do so much with digital, but the feeling you get from analog is the best! Turning knobs, dancing around the studio. It's a great feeling!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: At all times I will give my best.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I like it when clients have a vision in mind but still give me creative freedom. That creative freedom let's me sink in to my world.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: If I can deliver/redo specific sounds.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: A lot of my work is sound design for existing songs, however I also produce full songs.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: First, it's about connecting and fully understanding my client. So you will hear questions about your previous songs, previous experiences and references.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: The vibe between client and producer must be ride. The producer must deliver the right sounds, but the whole process must be enjoyable and fun as well.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Hydrasynth, Epiphone Les Paul, my incredibly powerful Mac Studio, Rode NT1-A and probably another guitar of mine (you can never have enough guitars)
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started playing guitar when I was 12, started songwriting and recording. After a while I explored my true passion - synths and sound design. I am a full-time producer now for some years and it's great!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Bring me the Horizon, House of Protection, Architects, Olivia Rodrigo. There are just too many to list.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Experiment as much as possible. I think every musician once did something random/not on purpose and it ended up sounding great!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: At the moment I'm having lots of fun with Post-Hardcore, however I've worked a lot on Rock and Pop before.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I would say that I'm always searching for sounds that "have not been invented yet" so that I can bring something unique in every production. I do that by using my analog synths paired with numerous effects for example.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First I'm chatting with my client about their past work and check out references. Once I fully understand what my clients wants/needs I start to collect ideas and stay in touch with the client during the whole process until the job is finished.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Bring me the Horizon is probably my biggest inspiration; they always try out new stuff and their sound design is on another level.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mostly I do post production and additional synth work on Rock, Metal and Pop songs. I also do full productions.
