Analogue warmth, digital precision, over 30 years of experience. I sometimes mix on a large console running lot's of outboard and sometimes ITB. It is the level of precision and detail asked for that makes up for the right plan of attack. But most of all it is about the vibe or feel of the track that dictates the right choice.
My work is ranging from Cilice Orchestra (instrumental polyritmic Dent-Metal combined with orchestral and many acoustic elements) all the way to a famous Jazz guitar player (Bernie's Lounge - New Cool Collective) on many of it's productions, through to the just released 3 mans formation 'Parents' (heavy stuff with just Drums, Bass and vocals). Or world music, reggae, contemporary classical music (with One van Geel for instance) or the ultimate groove of 'Naked Ears' (in co-production with Subwave Studios).
Being a musician myself (former lead singer, playing many instruments on a reasonable level) I tend to mix to the 'soul' of the track, no so much 'on the meter'. Since my long years of experience, I give lessons to young producers and know the basic traps and hurdles of productions.
Beside my work as producer, I create audio-tours and sometimes AV installations in Musea, work as a boom operator and have mixed a lot of movies.
