Ant Smith is classically-trained Saxophonist & Music Supervisor/Producer (supervision credits include Emmy Award winning series Queer Eye, 30 for 30) with 20 years of experience playing in many styles – specializing in soulful pop and rock.
Do you need a powerful sax solo or catchy horn line to compliment your track?
I specialize in tenor/alto sax and digital wind synths; providing performances that range from punchy licks for you to edit with, wailing pop/rock solos, melodic counter lines for added color and contrast, and more. I layer myself with harmonies to provide rich textures and build a full section.
Here's how it works!
-Send over your track along with your project deadline.
-If you have ideas for melodies, horn lines, etc., feel free to provide sheet music or simply record them on your track and I'll transcribe by ear. I shine on a blank canvas!
-Please note if you'd like extra layers, harmonies, stacks, etc., and I'll be happy to include.
-Final delivery will include a link to all stems along with a reference track.
I'm a highly adaptable player who thrives in new musical environments and is accustomed to fast-paced production schedules with tight turnarounds.
I look forward to diving into your song and getting to work!

Endorse Ant Smith MusicI first worked with Anthony about a year ago on a project and his professionalism was unmatched. Anthony possesses vast amounts of knowledge of music and is an incredible sax player and musician. Not to mention one of the nicest guys in the business. Anthony is my go-to guy for horn parts. A true secret weapon!
I hired Anthony at Sunshine Park Studios to lay down sax on a few of my tracks and he KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK. Anthony's musicianship and ear for an excellent sax lick brought my tracks to a whole new level and I sincerely cannot wait to work with him again. If you're in need for a sax part in your piece ... Sunshine Park Studios is THE way to go!

Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Overseeing creative and production for several TV/Film projects (in addition to recording sax whenever the need arises) and live gigging throughout Southern California!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: All types...seriously! I've worked on everything from soulful pop to blues rock to epic orchestral and everything in between.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Custom Isolation Booth, MacBook Pro, Logic Pro X, AKG C414 XLII Microphone, Shure SM57 Microphone, Yamaha HS8 Studio Monitors, Beyerdynamic Headphones
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Queer Eye S6 on Netflix. I was the Music Supervisor on this project and the producers put a lot of care and attention into the music. It served as both a character and catalyst to help tell the heartfelt stories of the heroes featured in each episode. I commissioned and licensed music consisting of commercial, custom, library, and on-camera performances which allowed for a wide range of voices and creativity to be heard. The overall impact of the show has been immense, and I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Dustin Belt! He's a great guy and talented engineer/producer/musician that I've worked with on several projects and can highly recommend.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Honesty & Quality.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My ability to connect with people and both lead a project or be a team player.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Producers - Charlie Puth, Ryan Tedder, Oak Felder. Sax Players - Lenny Pickett, Mark Rivera, Gerald Albright.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: The unique vantage point of having worked both on the client side as a Music Supervisor and on the artist side as a Music Producer; both of which have now culminated into a decade of complimentary professional experience.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Find your voice and develop your ear. Production can be a moving target, and while keeping up with trends and technology is important, critical listening and musicality are the foundations for success.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been playing the sax since I was 11. I pursued music all the way through high school and into college as a music education major. During college I interned in A&R at Sony Masterworks and in TV production at Leftfield Pictures. During my time at Leftfield Pictures (which later became ITV), I discovered a music license on the copier that led to meeting the music supervisor and getting my start in music supervision in 2014. Since then, I've supervised 50+ productions across several networks and digital platforms, including A+E Networks, Netflix, Discovery, NBCUniversal, Fox, Paramount, Disney, ESPN, and more. I now produce music for TV & Film independently and perform at private events.
