Creative, Fast, & Intuitive Composer | Skilled Multi-Instrumentalist | Naturally Gifted & Classically Trained | Proficient Mixing + Mastering Engineer | Adept Choral & Orchestral Arranger
Hello! My name is Drew Anthony Nyquist. I am a servant of the Gospel, husband, and passionate musical polymath. I've been pursuing musical adventures such as singing in choirs, volunteering on worship teams, participating in jam sessions, making choral arrangements, acting in stage productions, performing at local gigs, and producing my own music for as long as I can remember. I earned my B.S. in Music from Great Lakes Christian College in 2022. I've worked on several indie video games and short films, and I'm currently the mixing engineer for a podcast.
I've been composing music since I was teenager using a free notation software on my horrible Windows XP computer and releasing the janky sounding MIDI playback on my old SoundCloud account. After one of my friends lovingly but sternly told me that my music was way too good to be presented with such little production value, I decided to purchase Ableton, and needless to say that opened up whole new worlds for me! After leaving my retail job in November of 2022, I heavily committed myself to acquiring vast amounts of knowledge on orchestration, audio production, and mixing/mastering.
Should you decide to hire me as your composer, I can guarantee that you will receive music with raw passion, dynamic emotion, and tons of character. Please get in touch with me if that interests you!

Amazing orchestral production, and insanely fast. Highly recommended!
Drew took over the mixing of our podcast. We immediately saw an improvement in sound quality. He knows how the bring the best out of the mix. We highly recommend him.
Every summer, my college runs a week-long music and drama camp for high school students. This year, we commissioned Drew to write the musical score for six videos we used in our production. I am a music professor with a master's degree in composition, and I believe Drew's scores were on par with what one might hear in a Netflix series or Hollywood film. Drew is a very fast composer with a natural, intuitive feel for motivic development which he often joins with surprising and beautiful harmonies. Plus, he is as nice a guy to work with as you'll find.
Interview with Drew Anthony Nyquist
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I proficient at orchestral, electronic, and rock styles of music.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use a solid gaming computer with upgraded RAM as the workhorse for all of my projects. My audio interface is a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen, and my DAW of choice is Ableton Live 11 Suite Edition. I use JBL 308P MkII 8-inch Powered Studio Monitors and Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X Headphones for monitoring. I use a Roland JUNO-DS61 as a MIDI-controller.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My main compositional influences are Martin O'Donnel, Michael Salvatori, John Williams, Yuka Tsujiyoko, and Koji Kondo.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: One of the most invaluable pieces of advice I've gotten as far as mixing goes is to make sure you nail the volume/panning balance before even thinking about adding any other audio effects. Being in a position where your mix is already well-balanced before any EQ or Compression is even added is an excellent spot to be in.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I have been noted for the exceptional speed at which I can produce skillful, dynamic, and high-quality pieces of music - even when writing for an entire orchestra.
