Analog depth with digital efficiency mixing engineer in Los Angeles, CA.
Through many years of transitioning between bombastic film score to the vibey world of indie rock (with many stops in-between). It has become a priority to learn the artist vocabulary. Every project begins with a quick meeting where we go over influences and references. Through this we can establish a language that allows us too effortlessly communicate through the process. For example, it is much easier to say I want a “Instant Karma” vocal vibe on this song rather than, can you make it weird like John Lennon? This is not just using references, but using specific elements to make sure we are aimed at the same target. It is the combining of all these influences that come from the artists that allows me as the mixer to create a unique identity for each song.
I work out of The Market Recording, which I co-own with fellow producer Pete Recine. I offer Audiomovers virtually attended sessions for approvals. However if the client's location permits and they prefer it, I like to do the final revision session in person, just to make sure every detail is addressed.
