Big voice that's played big shows, I love what I do and I have the attention-grabbing vocal you need. Professional singer and actor, touring the UK and internationally over a career of 15+ years. Recent credits include playing Elwood Blues in the OFFICIAL Blues Brothers show, and currently as The Big Bopper in BUDDY: The Buddy Holly Story.
Hey there, I'm Chris, and I'm here to record your vocals!
I thrive with a song I can enjoy myself with, be it the smooth indulgence of a jazz/swing number, or the cathartic release of singing out a big rocking belter! Think "Dean Martin by day, Dave Grohl by night"!
Originally training in musical theatre at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, I've carried the disciplines and stamina I learned all the way through a long and varied career, taking me from the "classic MT sound' to "rock and roller", fronting shows in everything from intimate cabaret to large-scale stage shows!
It doesn't matter if the show is designed for 50 people or 5000, I love giving my all to a performance.
Whatever your project, be it a demo, commercial, or something a little bit 'different', if you have a song that needs a strong lead vocal, (and hey, perhaps some harmonies as well!) get in touch!

Interview with Christopher Chandler
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I graduated with an MA in Musical Theatre from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2006. I then spent 18 months working in a theatre doing everything except performing, which gave me a deep respect and knowledge for how a show does not begin and end with the people in the spotlight on stage. I spent several years after that working as a lead production singer aboard cruise ships, where you HAD to be adaptable. No two shows were alike in style, and you needed to be a master of them all. I learned a lot on those jobs, and owe them for my ability to transition between genres and vocal styles. I have worked in UK and International tours as a leading singer and actor, and when I wasn't in a show, I was gigging, fronting bands and solo shows for cabarets, functions and corporate events. I have always been doing what I love for work, and I am ridiculously grateful for that. I am currently on a UK theatre tour and having the time of my life. I'm singing my heart out alongside some very talented people, and we're getting standing ovations every night! It means the world!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Warm, powerful, strong, and with a cheesy grin that can be hidden if required, but never TOO far away.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Oh gosh! What a question! Well as I write this, Pink is playing in the background, and I have to say she would be a phenomenal duet partner. The dynamics of her voice, playing with power and vulnerability in her tone, crossing genres, and being totally 'in' any song she delivers. Remarkable. Either that or Dave Grohl: Nicest guy in rock? Yes please!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't be afraid to try something. Even if you think you've got the perfect concept, does it really harm you to experiment with a different take?
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: At time of writing, I'm currently on the UK theatre tour of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, and before that I was in a show for 3 months singing The Rolling Stones, so everything is very classic rock and roll at the moment! But a lot of last year was performing my solo cabarets, which featured everything from Stevie Wonder, to Elton John, to The Rat Pack. I guess the main consistency there is that the opportunity to let loose in the vocal is always there!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Definitely versatility. I trained in Musical Theatre originally, but these days more than ever, ANYTHING can be musical theatre. As much as I enjoy the 'legit' sound, it's the big rocking numbers, and the charm and indulgent smoothness of a jazzy big band number that I particularly enjoy. I have worked in professional contracts where we were changing entire genres on a nightly basis, and I loved honing those various skills and bringing them to wherever it is needed.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Energy, warmth, and certainly impact. My voice is a big one, although I've been known to pull things back, and include some softness and/or falsetto when it's called for. But I'm a guy that gets a kick out of a well-executed performance and a well-entertained audience, and I like to think it shows in my finished work.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I'm a listen and repeat kind of guy. I like to take in a track a few times and when I'm ready I'll jump in with a vocal. I am happy experimenting while I do so, changing up delivery to see what fits. This is great for live performances when you're doing the same thing every night and you need to keep it fresh for yourself as much as the audience, but for a recording it's vital to agree on what makes the most impact for that 'definitive' version.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: As someone who is on tour a lot, I need equipment that is as portable as it is effective. My MacBook and my Focusrite Scarlett studio come everywhere with me, meaning I am ready to record anywhere at anytime.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love a showman: Someone who is there for the audience. A guy who cares deeply about what they do and
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I'm a singer, first and foremost. it's all about giving the client's project the voice it deserves.
