Interview with J&A Entertainment
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: J&A Entertainment is a complete team with professional Musicians with an Audio Engineer specialized from tracking to Mixing and Mastering. Since we are just starting we are small but professional minded musicians Looking forward to work with you.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am a fan of Dave Pensado, Chris Lord Alge, and other musicians that has provided the definition of pro level in what they do. They inspire us to go further everyday with the sonic quality and perfection of our Job.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: As DAW we have many however we prefer Studio One 3 Professional for its tools and great handling of processing Power. With Studio One 3 we are able to go side to side Protools HD in terms of quality. Also we use a myriad of plugins from many companies, however, we prefer SlateDigital,Softube and Waves. Our Converter is at the moment Studio192 from PreSonus and its high class A Microphone preamps are exactly what we need for what we do. With Sample rate up to 192k, its AD/DA conversion is of high fidelity. We at the moment have a couple of Tube pre-amps from ART and we love their sound.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When we receive a song whether is to record or mix/master, the first step is to listen to know where the song is going and what we need to do to complement to it and keep it on that direction.( unless the song writer/producer wants a different vibe for that specific song)
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: We like to say that we will bring to the song what the song requires. there is no one way to say what we would bring to a song because every song has their particular way of sound therefore, the musicians or Engineers have to bring to the table what each specific song NEEDS.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: It is hard to say what our strongest skills are. We are composed of 4 people each has their strengh in different areas.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: We do a lot of Contemporary Christian, Gospel, Brazilian rhythms.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always produce a song thinking of the chorus because, if you don't pay attention to your hook, it may sound weak or un-recognizable.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Making Music is Our passion, we love to compliment a track on recording,mixing/mastering. Hearing how satisfied our costumers are is our pride.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to my clients to give them the best quality and results whether is recording guitar, bass, drum tracks.or Mixing/Mastering their already recorded material paying close attention to what their song requires.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I like the digital world now days because even the Digital Now days has its own "color". We have possibilities never thought of before on Analog as far as Editing. Today with high fidelity sample rate, we have abilities that in digital we had none. Who thought years ago you could comp a vocal or, if the guitar tone you have is not enough for that song and you want to re-amp? Today because of "endless" tracks we are able to take a DI signal of the guitar while recording 3-4 mic'd amps. On the analog world we could not do that!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Jason Meekins is a great drummer I've worked with him in Numerous tracks. He has great equipment and great sound. He understands the feel of a song and makes that feel stays intact with keeping his playing "On the Pocket".
