Dan is AWESOME! Second gig together. This guy is a BEAST!!! Phenomenal producer and songwriter. Gig just so smooth each time. Super pro all the way man. Would work for any day and you should too! Easy 6/5!!
I was so very fortunate to have found one of Dans songs “Learning To Let You Go” which I cute and released to critical and commercial success. This led to the placement of another track and then onto co-writing and producing songs on my debut album “No One Knows”
To describe Dans talent it too difficult just listen to the songs he has written and produced to get an idea of the immense talent he has. I’m privileged to have worked with him and even more so to have secured him for a full sophomore album. Get this guy on the up because he is going to the top!! Can’t recommend enough.Dan is a talented, professional and hard working producer who has been a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend his songwriting and production skills which are outstanding. Look forward to working a lot more with Dan in the future.
I have had the pleasure of working with Dan on a few projects. He is extremely professional, friendly and a very hard worker. The quality of the songs he produces are outstanding and far exceeds expectations. I have been blown away by his talent. I have worked with many producers in the past, but none compare to Dan's professionalism and ability to produce such high-quality songs. I would highly recommend Dan for any production job!
Dan is extremely profession. He great at interpreting exactly what I want into beautiful music production. I have had a couple of songs sighed to Sync Licenses because of Dan's beautiful work!
Dan was a great positive surprise. This dude has the feeling for a HIT. Further he acted super professional and is one of the guys who never gives up, until the perfect song for this specific act is written. Really looking forward to work with him again. Thanks Dan 🙏
As a songwriter I have worked with many terrific studios and producers in Nashville and LA. However, from the first song I had produced by Dan Scholes, it was immediately obvious that his mastery in understanding and building a song’s arc would connect powerfully with listeners on an emotional level. The results spoke for themselves, as the song was immediately signed by a major Nashville music publisher. I am so looking forward to our next project together.
I was overjoyed with the production that came back from Dan. It completely transformed my record. He was understanding towards me as an artist and worked tirelessly to make sure I was happy with the end product. I would highly recommend his work to anybody looking to release high quality music.
Interview with Dan Scholes
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes there is an incredible vocalist called Bobby John who is just outstanding who I've hired or brought into a number of sessions. His range, delivery, skills and attitude as a vocalist are second to none!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Modern Pop production with real emotion and soul!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Singer-Songwriter, Indie-Pop, Pop-Country
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Production, Mixing and Soundscapes, Piano and String arrangements
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It always begins with communicating with the artists to fully understand their vision of the style, sound and aesthetic for the production. I then begin with the instrumental production keeping in close contact with the artist to make sure they are happy with the direction the song is taking. After that it is then time to add the vocal production and recording followed final mixes and review sessions.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Max Martin, Benny Blanco, Ryan Tedder, Diane Warren, Fraser T Smith, Taylor Swift, Kygo, Sam Feldt
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Full production. Track building. Mixing. Mastering. Vocal Production. Tuning and editing. Songwriting.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always use subtractive EQ first across your tracks. It's been said a million times before but there is a reason for it. You can achieve so much more in your mixes by working this way.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Melody, arrangements and a sense of knowing when to push and pull in the arrangement and production of the song.
