Interview with Peter Budai
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Every project starts with a brief covering scope, deliverables, and timeline. From there we build a workflow suited to the project — whether that's a full mix session, a stem delivery for Dolby Atmos, or a complete audio post package. We share progress at key milestones and revise until the client is satisfied.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Our primary setup is Pro Tools Ultimate with the Dolby Atmos Renderer for immersive mixing, running on Amphion monitoring. Outboard includes Neve preamps and an API/Mackie summing mixer. Microphone locker covers DPA, Schoeps, AKG, and Neumann. We run UAD, iZotope, Waves, and Antares plugins and work ITB for most projects.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Quincy Jones, Michael Paul Stavrou, Tchad Blake, Chris Lord-Alge, George Martin, Butch Vig, and Andrew Scheps — among many others across both engineering and performance.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Our most common work is Dolby Atmos mixing and mastering, stereo mixing and mastering, sound design for film, games, and mobile apps, and audio post-production for advertising and commercial content. We also take on full music production projects from arrangement through final delivery.
