Highly recommend Yetro as a highly skilled guitarist! His performance was phenomenal, excellent feedback and communication, and he made sure I was happy with the end result every step of the way. I had him track several layers of guitars on my Pop Country track and he nailed it right a way. If you're looking for a class A session guitarist, look no further - Yetro is the real deal!

Yetro is a very skilled guitarist able to play different styles. He’s easy to work with and gives comments and suggestions to improve the final product. Well recommended.
Yetro was extremely thorough and professional. I needed him to record a guitar track for my existing production and he even went the extra mile to offer other services. His thoughtfulness and communication were above and beyond. His attention to detail was highly professional and precise. He offered some other ideas within production along with offering side-chaining compression thoughts in my song. He also recorded the tracks a bit differently to give them color in the mix and advised on the correct panning to get the most out of the mix. I loved working with Yetro!
Yetro created an original theme song for our children's theatre company and it's a huge hit! All the kids, and parents, get so excited when the song comes on. We've used it for promo videos, live performances, slideshows, and more... It's one of the best investments we've made as an organization. Yetro was very easy to work with, and even helped us craft some of the lyrics. He had the entire thing written within a few days, then we added lyrics and worked as a team to tweak as needed. After we hired some singers to record the vocals, he quickly got it perfectly mixed and mastered for us.
Interview with Yetro Avalos
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I have been doing session work on guitar and full productions.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am tracking rock guitars for a client.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. There is no good or bad, just different applications. The end goal is to capture what's on your mind by all means necessary.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will do my best to give you exactly what you want.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: To be creative, and help others bring their ideas to life.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Have clarity on the sound that you are going after. Have references of tracks that might have inspired yours. Give your musician a good look into your mind.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Solar power station, Computer, Interface, my Strat and my Revv amp
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing this for a long time. I went to school for Classical guitar and Jazz guitar. Performed for a while, toured a bit, worked on cruise ships, but creating is where I feel most at home.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Energetic, groovy, emotional.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Record as if there was no mixing. The more finished your tracks are from the get-go the easier and better your production will end up sounding.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mostly Rock and Pop, but not limited to those genres.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Not being like anyone else.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Vibe. I shy away from cookie cutter performances. I want my work to have character.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to get to know what my clients want. I listen to their expectations as well as asking for music references, to really understand the feel that they are going after. Once we have a clear understanding I send some drafts over to check on the vibe. If the client is happy I start crafting the whole thing with the stamp of approval on it.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a simple setup. I use my Apollo Twin to capture the sounds using their unison preamps (Neve, SSL, API). To create electric guitar tones I use my Revv G20 along with my boutique overdrive pedals. I can really get any tone I need with that. I have a Jeff Beck signature Stratocaster as my main guitar, but I do have a 7string PRS that sounds awesome. My next in line is my Ibanez semi hollow with a bridge Gibson pickup and a P90 on the bridge, great sounding thing. I do have an acoustic guitar that seems to be great for almost everything. I record that with a condenser microphone, but what does most of the work at capturing the sound is the soundproofing in the room.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I try to listen to new music as much as I can to be up-to-date in the sounds, but I get inspired by unique sounds, regardless of the genre. Right now I am really enjoying Paramore's new album.
