Interview with Martron

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: My first EP "Patterns". It's about what it was like growing up with Asperger's Syndrome and is also a love letter to my family. It took 4 years to make and I couldn't be prouder of it.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I just released my first EP and am currently working on follow up tracks/projects.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Yup, Chandler Leighton. Incredible singer and songwriter, definitely someone to look into if you want help with your songs/top lines.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: This is a trick question: I mainly work in digital but I always go with whichever one benefits the track the most.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: To give them my all no matter what.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Getting to do what I love

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: EDM doesn't just mean House music. There's so much more to EDM, so many different styles and approaches.

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: I'd take my laptop with Ableton Live installed, my KRK Rokit 5 speakers, my laptop charger, my Alesis Q49 keyboard and my AKG headphones.

  17. Q: How would you describe your style?

  18. A: I don't like to be pinned down to just 1 genre, so I've created a sound that translates through multiple styles/genres. Sometimes it's something like trap, then it's house, then it's dubstep, then it's afro house. I'm very proud of my versatility and my adaptability.

  19. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  20. A: Too many to name but the first one that comes to mind is Skrillex. He's extremely talented and I love his versatility. If were talking about a singer/rapper/vocalist, first one that comes to mind is Dua Lipa. She's an incredible singer and knows how to get you to move

  21. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  22. A: Remember to have fun.

  23. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  24. A: I mainly make Dance/EDM music, but I also produce pop and rap tracks for clients.

  25. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  26. A: Producing.

  27. Q: What's your typical work process?

  28. A: I have typical work process. When it comes to working on a song regardless of if it's by myself or with others, I approach each song differently based on the vibe or any ideas that come about first.

  29. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  30. A: Skrillex, The Beatles, Daft punk, Yes, Flume, Ella Fitzgerald, Alison Wonderland, Steel Pulse, Jon Casey.

  31. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  32. A: Mainly I produce and remix tracks for clients. I also offer mixing and mastering services.
