Need some flair for your song? I specialise in melodies that are recognizable and singable. Every artist I've worked with has complimented me on my ability to write hooks, whether its riffs, licks or solos, let me take your tracks from delicious to gourmet!
Versatile composer/producer/guitarist with 10+ years experience. I've played in jazz bands, rock bands and metal bands and am also a solo artist. I can write full songs, produce beats/instrumentals, write lyrics, add chords, guitar solos/lead work as well as additional production to any song. I specialise in hooky and bouncy melodies that are easily singable. Progressive types of music are my favourite (metal, jazz, prog rock) and also love hip hop but can write for any genre and adapt existing works to new genres. Song writing option includes multiple instruments and lyrics if needed (this may impact the price).

Interview with Spenser Phoenix
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both are important and have their place.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: You'll be singing whatever melody I come up with for you.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I am only a lead player. I have intentionally exposed myself to as much music as possible to be able to work on anything.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is the goal of the song - not in sense of the release but what emotions are you trying to convey? what story are you trying to tell?
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Energetic, catchy, immersive. My songs are those that you can bump in the car with your friends but when you go home and listen by yourself with headphones on, you'll find a few little hidden treats also.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Jimmy Page. One of my childhood heroes that's still alive and has inspired me to not focus on one style but expand my repertoire to create anything I enjoy.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Send and Return/Bus tracks are your friend
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip hop and metal
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Rhythmic tension. Many times the notes of a melody will sound great but some slight syncopation can take it from great to amazing.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Flair. I can hear a melody once and instantly find a way to make it catchier/more interesting.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to listen to the song 3-4 times along with any references and imagine the current vibe and how I can compliment it. From there I use a mixture of singing a melody that comes to my head along with phrasing that comes from playing guitar to craft the perfect solo/riff etc.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have the latest version of Ableton along with 5 different guitars and a Quad Cortex meaning I can easily capture any style for any genre instantly.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love artists that take risks and have unconventional approaches to song writing. Artists like Periphery, Kendrick Lamar, Soundgarden, Polyphia, Prince and Led Zeppelin are my main inspirations.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Guitar solo's. I've had people bring me a nearly finished song looking for the last little push over the cliff that I provide with a solo that not only matches the feel of the song but also gives it that energy to bring the song home.
I was the Guitarist and songwriter (besides the first solo - i wrote the solo but not the song) in this production
