Creative drums, percussion, acoustic live loops and sounds for your songs.
Hi everybody,
I’m Marco from Hamburg, a session and live drummer / percussionist. Over the past 23 years, I’ve been part of countless recording sessions and have played thousands of live shows. I’d love to help you craft the perfect drum and percussion parts for your song.
Once I understand the approach you’re after, I’ll dive into my collection of some of the finest drums out there (Craviotto, A&F, Ludwig, Sonor, Noble & Cooley, Yamaha, and many more), a variety of fantastic Istanbul Agop cymbals, tons of percussion, and some specially treated drums—all ready to go.
My recording room is acoustically treated and sound-focused, with four freestanding acoustic panels that allow me to shape a dry or more open sound. I can record up to 18 channels through my Universal Audio Apollo interfaces, using Neve and API-style preamps (BAE, CAPI, Warm Audio) and 10 UAD preamps (Unison). I track everything in UAD LUNA or Logic Pro. Additionally, I enjoy bringing in percussion and sound design ideas—from a single tambourine to full percussion arrangements.
Communication is key. First and foremost, I want to understand what you’re looking for: your vision in terms of playing, sound, style, and vibe. My goal is to support your song 100% and help elevate it to the next level.
Can’t wait to get in touch with you 😊 .

Marco recorded all the drums and percussion for my last two albums. I am absolutely thrilled with the results. Marco delivers first-class sound quality and tasteful, creative and song-oriented grooves. He has a high level of musicality and pays attention to every little detail. He is a super nice guy and always a pleasure to work with. I can highly recommend him and will definitely work with him again!
Hello , I worked with Marco on many succesful records that I produced and I am a big fan .Marco is a tight , groovy player with an open mind and a great sound .He can play all styles as far as I know and he always brings something special to the song , so that I would always enjoy to work with Marco . He ads something that makes your songs better . Also he is a very nice guy and easy to work with .
Interview with Marco Moeller
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Find out and understand people’s vision in order to create drum & percussion parts they are looking for. Creating the right vibe with choosing the right instruments of my collection. Building strong rhythmic layers to enhance the song and shaping the vibe.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am constantly working on improving my skills as a drummer, engineer, mixer and human being in general 😊 .
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is to translate your vision of groove and sound into a great sounding, vibey and tight result. Additionally I always try to deliver a fast turn around.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Often customers ask me what I need to know to start the process. My answer would be: I will need the song tempo, the key of the song and the sample rate you like me to record at. Another question might me how many individual channels customers will receive from me? Usually I will send: Kick In and Out, two different Snare Tops plus one Snare Bottom, individual Toms, Hi Hat, Stereo Overheads, as well as one Mono Overhead, Stereo Room Mics and different individual flavor Mics. I'll also send a Parallel compression bus and / or effect bus, so you can decide to use it or not 😊 .
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Please let me know what your vision is, and please be as specific as possible.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I would pick my MacBookPro, my UAD Arrow, a C414 and two drumsticks.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Pop - Rock, Singer Songwriter music, Folk - Acoustic, Country, Indie Pop, Soul, Reggae, R&B, Blues, Instrumental, Electronic
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Creating vibey drum and percussion parts, that sound great. I always take the deep dive to find the right groove, sound and vibe.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First, I have an in-depth conversation with the customer to understand the vision and vibe we’re aiming for. Once I’ve got a clear idea, I dive into my equipment arsenal to find the perfect sound for each song. After dialing in the right tone, I record a few takes and can send you a quick MP3 (if desired) to confirm we’re on the right track. Then, I proceed with tracking the main and additional takes, exporting the files, and delivering them to the customer—usually via WeTransfer or Dropbox. I’m flexible with revisions and always strive to keep my customers happy 😊.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What vibe are you looking for in terms of sound, style and groove? Would you have any sound references?
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I‘m a song drummer dedicated to groove, sound and freel. I love to create percussion and drum layers.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Always supporting the song a hundred percent.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both worlds do have their pros and cons.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I´m a professional drummer since 23 years. I’ve been involved in tons of different studio and live scenarios. My goal is to find the right groove, sound, vibe and feeln for the song. Communication is key and I like to hear your vision, ideas, notes and references.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Get the sound at the source right first, always follow your inspiration and sometimes less is more.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My recording room is a dry and focused sounding room, where a lot of styles and sounds can be created. I am lucky to call some of the most amazing drums my own. A wide array of drums, cymbals and percussion will provide the perfect answer to every situation ready to go. I record everything via my Universal Audio interfaces, working mostly with UAD LUNA or Logic Pro.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I´m inspired by drummers like for example Matt Chamberlain, Jim Keltner, Joey Waronker, Aaron Sterling, Ash Soan, Steve Jordan, Ringo Starr, Abe Laborier Jr., Steve Gadd, and a lot of more amazing song and groove drummers.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of the time, clients ask me to record drums and percussion tracks for their songs. Some sessions only require a few overdubs, like percussion accents, swells, or sound design elements. My tasks might include replacing programmed demo parts or creating an entirely original drum arrangement 😊 .
