Interview with SING

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Krysta Youngs and I were invited to a songwriting camp in Seoul, South Korea where I met with songwriters, singers and producers from all over the world. They threw us into a different writing/ production rooms with different people every day for a week straight. By the end of the week the whole camp had 30+ well written and masterfully produced songs. Of the 5 songs I wrote that week, 3 were picked up (2 for TV shows and 1 for Oh My Girl's album, 'The Fifth Season'). I am especially proud of this because we ventured into the unknown and came out victorious!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: The Incomparable Krysta Youngs!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Is there power on this desert island? ... lol Let's say there is power. In that case, I would bring my Microphone,1 speaker, MacBook Pro, Apogee and my M-Audio keystation!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My singing and songwriting go hand-in-hand as my strongest skill sets.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Whether it's my voice, vocal arranging or songwriting, I bring skill, passion and professionalism. You'll never be left in the dark or have to wonder what is going on with your song. I am a communicator and can only be happy if I know you're happy!

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Clients primarily hire me for my voice, vocal arranging and songwriting. As the former Lead Singer of the R&B Singing Group AHMIR, I sang solo on just about every cover song we did, which allowed me to create different tones and styles for my voice and also gave me the chance to come up with interesting, warm and tasty background vocals - which I arranged for the group as well!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical process starts with connecting with my Client and getting a good understanding of what they are looking for from me. Once we are all set to go, I start the project and send samples along the way to ensure that things are moving in the direction that the Client is looking for. From there we work together on any tweaks until it's done and start our next project together!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I get inspired by working with people who love their craft! Having been on SoundBetter, I've come across so many talented people that have great ideas, great songs and a lot of passion for their music. It inspires me to do my absolute best not only with their projects, but with all of the other music I work on as well!
