I've toured and recorded with Birds of Chicago, Amelia Curran, Matt and Jill Barber, Great Lake Swimmers, Royal Wood, Jessica Mitchell, The Lovelocks, Aviva Chernick, and many others.
I maintain a project recording studio in Toronto where I send parts out remotely to artists and film composers. I've been fortunate to record with many different singer/songwriters. Please check out my discography at www.joelschwartz.ca

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a dedicated project studio. It's a vibey, creative space, that sounds beautiful and is filled with excellent gear. I keep all of my instruments here set up and ready to record. On the technical side, I have a range of microphones (condensers, ribbons, dynamics) to choose from, some beautiful preamps (Grace), and a rock solid RME interface.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I work with singer/songwriters layering fretted instruments on their songs. Sometimes it's just a single electric guitar part, other times the song calls for a more lush arrangement with layers of guitars and/or resonator and mandolin. It's fun picking out the right instrument colors to support the song.
