Searching for that unique character or sound in your song? With the combination of tube preamps/compressors and articulate playing, using one of my services will help you stand out compared to the thousands of songs published each day.
Hi, I'm Daniel Lane, an analog studio owner with a love of golden age era sound. My work and credits include Suicide Squeeze and Famous Class Records. Each of my published works credits me as mixing engineer as well as session drummer or guitarist. With a focus in the new era of Punk (so far), my techniques and ear combine modern punchy rock as well as the smoothness of analog gear. My personal space is equipped with a Soundtracs Solo Logic 32 automated console. I also work out of Greycat Sound, housing an AMEK Media 51 (used to mix Disney's Lion King, yeah that one!) mixing console. Both workspaces include Focusrite preamps, Neve equalization, and various tube compressors. I am constantly looking for improvements in my mixes and diversification of them. I am willing to work with and for you, music makers! Collaboration is important to achieve the best product possible, come work with me!

Interview with Daniel Lane
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Early 2023 I worked on an Atlanta band's first proper record. The session was inbound to a Studer 24 track that just sounded so sweet to my ears. Got to work with vintage Ampex preamps I had never seen before!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Get it right on the inbound signal. Tracking great sounds requires less mix moves and aids listeners (even if they don't know it).
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Ty Segall, Glyn Johns, Ted Templeman, Art Blakey, Carmine Appice, Martin Birch, John Siket
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Providing adequate instrumentation and mixing for client's songs.
