Endorse Brian C. HinesI am a Indie (independent) recording and performing artist! I have worked with Brian Hines for over 10 yrs now. I am a singer and songwriter and I have recorded many background vocals for Brian and his artists. He is amazing at songwriting, production, recording/engineering! I have seen him create miracles out of otherwise challenged material. If you are in of ANY studio work, Brian is your man!
Brian Hines what can I say first let me start by saying he's an anointed man of God and he takes pride in all of the work that he does, his work speaks for itself, every time I have worked with him it's always been a positive and learning experience can't wait to do work with him in the future keep up the good work.

C. Barry Martin, CEO/President, The Orchard Promotional FirmBrian Hines produces excellent bodies of work. He gives each piece of music (song or compilation) the right amount of attention to detail. I've worked with him, personally. His studio & LIVE performance work is outstanding, & his prices (come on, this matters) are affordable. I recommend him.

Interview with Brian C. Hines
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I don't have any in particular. I'm equally proud of just about all of the projects I've worked on because of the extensive amount of creativity and work I put into them. For the majority of the projects I was the keyboardist, musical/ vocal arranger, producer, and mixing engineer.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Song Production for several independent artists.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: No, not at the moment
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I would advise them to come prepared to work.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Macbook Pro M1, my Adam Audio A7Vs and Sub 10, my brother's Nord C2D organ, my Sony A7R iii camera and Sennheiser HD 650 headphones.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started out playing drums/ guitar and then learned to play the keyboard and then became a songwriter at age 16 and started recording other singers which led to me becoming a producer. I've been doing this for a little over 26 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Versatile
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Beyonce. Why? Because I love her drive, her professionalism and she's a perfectionist!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work in all genres of music. I've recently been editing and mixing lots of Gospel, R&B and Hip Hop. However, I've done just about a little bit of everything.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Throughout my life, I've been fortunate to possess a broad range of musical experiences. I'm a pianist, drummer, organist, producer, songwriter, vocal arranger, composer and choral conductor.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I work closely with each of my clients on every project I take on. My approach to every project is focused on attention to detail and open communication. I send regular updates for all projects ensuring you will always be up to date with how everything is sounding, asking for your feedback and insight to ensure the project always has your ideas included and matches your vision (your project is my top priority!) I can take a small idea, voice note, demo, vocal track or even some reference tracks and together with your insight turn it into a release- ready track to distribute to the world.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: What is your rate?! The answer is, it depends on the condition of the recorded tracks I'm given. Sometimes I get sent a song and it is a disaster requiring countless hours and sometimes days of work to get sounding its best. Then there are times a song only requires a little bit of a polish and can be done in a few hours. I always need to listen to a rough mix before coming up with a fair mix rate.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I mix every song to the best of my ability no matter who the client is. My goal is to make your mix the best mix that I've ever done!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. With digital there are pretty much no limitations. You can easily recall sessions and settings. Plugins have gotten so good that one can get fantastic results from 100% in the box mixes. I taylor my mixing to sound very analog.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception about what I do is that it's easy, that I can take a bad song and make it good with a mix. Also, many people think that mixing can be done quickly. Even when the tracks are recorded really well, mixing still takes a good bit of time to fine tune and make the mix amazing. I can only mix the files I am sent unless I have the freedom to add parts.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Is any editing required? I do not consider editing, vocal comping, vocal tuning, etc... as part of the mixing process. What is your vision and what are your goals for the project. Do you have a rough mix? Do you have any reference mixes? How much creative input do you want from me? What's your expected turnaround time? Do you have a Pro Tools session?
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have studio setups in multiple locations Atlanta, Georgia and Mobile, Alabama. My studio setup in Atlanta is more ideal for production, mixing and mastering. My setup in Mobile is more ideal for production and recording.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I most commonly doing song production, musical/ vocal arrangements, drum Editing, vocal editing, vocal comping and Mixing.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I don't like my job until it's COMPLETE!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is having the ability to exceed the expectations of the artist's vision.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Musicians: Kevin Bond, Michael Bereal, Prince, Chick Corea, Bruno Mars, Maxwell, Katy Perry, R. Kelly and Mint Music Production Professionals: Kevin Bond, Quincy Jones, Chris Lord-Alge and Dave Pensado
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always hire the best session musicians and singers that have Matched Talent!!!
