I am Lasse Mosegard aka Illinton, an experienced producer, composer, musician, and mix engineer based in Barcelona. Throughout 30 years of my career, I have worked in a wide range of musical genres, including Ambient, Meditation, Chill-Out, Electronica, Organic House, Ecstatic Dance and Film Scores as well as Acoustic Singer-Songwriter.
My main instruments are Piano, Rhodes, Synthesizers, Samplers, Drums, and Percussion. My studio is located in Barcelona where I work with different artists and projects from all over the world.
I am connected to many professional studio musicians that are available if your production needs additional instruments, like violins, flutes, guitars, bass, vocals etc. I always aim to embrace the artist’s vision and make it come alive sounding the best way possible. I can develop your initial musical idea or start from zero and quickly deliver a commercial quality production with a dynamic, punchy mix. Working with me, you will have as many free revisions as you need to be 100% satisfied with the final result.
Feel free to check out my portfolio and let me know how I can help you with your project. I look forward to working with you.

Interview with Lasse Mosegard
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm currently working on music productions for a client in London, to create music for animated movies and multimedia, in different music genres and styles. As well, I’m making meditation and breathwork music for SOMA Breath and the wellness app OPO.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream, Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Pat Metheny, Jean-Michel Jarre, Danit, Pao Pamaki, Nessi Gomes, Mei-Lan, Sade, Massive Attack, The Orb, London Grammar, Alicia Keys, Radiohead, Sting, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Lana del Rey, James Blake, Weval, Kraftwerk, Wendy Carlos, Bjork, Rick Rubin, Peter Gabriel, Byron metcalf, Steve Roach, Brian Eno, Nils Frahm, Ömer Faruk Tekbilek, Ravi Shankar, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Vangelis, James Newton Howard, Danny Elfman, James Horner and Ennio Morricone.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I created and produced the film score for "The Last Shaman". I met the director at a dinner party with some mutual friends. A few days later, he stopped by my studio to listen to some of my previous work. I immediately got to work on the project after that. I was truly inspired by the indigenous shamanic Icaro singing recordings, and it was such a pleasure to create music around them. I produced the entire film score, mixed and mastered it in my studio in Ibiza. The director was very pleased with the outcome, and got the film on Netflix. Since then, we have remained good friends.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital sounds really great, it is fast and easy to work with, especially with plugins available from UAD. I still love to add a touch of Analog whenever possible.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will provide my clients with the absolute best production and mix possible, tailored specifically to their wishes and unique creative vision.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love the magic of musical creation and the shared emotions when everyone can feel the song lifting and everything comes together in a perfect mix.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: When clients ask me how long a project will take, I provide an honest estimate based on their specifications and the speed at which I can deliver. Thanks to my ability to work fast, I'm often able to complete the project more quickly than my clients expect.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Some clients may not be fully aware that a music producer is responsible for every aspect of the production process, from start to finish, including the final mix down, and even mastering in some cases. This involves not only technical expertise, but also the ability to understand the client's vision, add the right amount of creativity and make sure the production is relevant in today's music scene.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I always ask my clients which music inspires them the most, and what music inspired them, especially for this particular song. It is important to know their vision and expectations for the final production.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: It's important for clients to be clear and direct about the style and vibe they are looking for. With the right information, I can create pretty much anything they'd ask for, and this will always lead to the best results.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: UAD Apollo, SCM 50A, Neumann U87, Roland RD 88, MacBook Pro.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been making music for around 35 years. I started studying piano and drumming when I was very young and built my own home studio as a teenager. Soon after, I moved to London and started working with successful artists, DJs, and film directors in London as a freelancer. Over the years, I also spent a lot of time in NYC and LA, where I collaborated with various artists.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is based on my clients' wishes. It's all about serving others with the expertise and compatibility I've acquired over the years.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Try to have a very clear idea and vision of exactly what you are about to create before you start. It could for example be a specific production style, drum programming, sound design or instrumentation, it’ll save you a lot of time and you will get your production up rolling fairly quick and easy.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I’m very versatile, the past few projects I’ve produced have been singer/songwriter, electronica, rock, hip hop, pop, and dance music, but I have also done a lot of film music and meditation journeys.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is creating a solid drums, bass-line, chords, ambiance and soundscapes in a nice dynamic arrangement, as well as catchy melodies, good vocal sound and a perfectly balanced mix.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a lot of musical experience since 35 years, from the groove, chord progressions, musicality, arrangement, and expertise in different styles and genres. I will also help guide the client in the right direction, to fill in the missing pieces, and bring balance and dynamics to the production.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually begin by discussing the song's style and vibe with my client to establish a clear direction from the very start. Then, I focus on creating the rhythm section by adding drums and percussion (if required) and gradually layering in other elements like bass, keys, and guitars. Throughout this process, I always mix as I go, to ensure that my client and I have a clear perspective of the production's progress, sound and mix.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have an acoustically isolated studio in Barcelona, equipped with a voice box and a collection of different instruments. This allows me to create and mix productions efficiently to a high standard. While I enjoy incorporating electronic elements like synths and samples when appropriate, I also place a strong emphasis on using real instruments, drums and percussion to infuse a human touch and add originality to the music.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I produce music for clients who have either completed or are close to completing their songs. Depending on their wishes, I can work alongside the artist throughout the production process or create a complete production from scratch on my own. If needed, I can also record final vocals in my studio or work with vocals provided by the client. Additionally, I produce film and meditation music. For these projects, I compose and produce a complete score on my own.
