Don is a high level professional :) It was a pleasure to work with him.
After he played the piano, I had a smile of delight on my face for about an hour :) - check_circleVerified
Don did an excellent job working with my MIDI file to fine-tune my piano performance. Thanks to Don, my piano part now has a richness and beauty that I couldn't even imagine at the start of my project. Don's technical skills are top-notch. He understood what I wanted, was a consummate professional, and delivered two fantastic (slightly different) final tracks for me to choose from. I recommend Don to anyone seeking a great pianist and/or producer for their project. He's a super nice guy too!

Working with Don was great. He had an excellent song, gave solid direction, and was very cool and kind throughout the process. Wishing him the best of luck with his music and I hope to work with him again sometime. Highly recommend!
I have been working with Don for many projects (Vietnamese and Bilingual projects such as Radiant Light Divine and Here I am, Lord) and other projects recording for OCP (Oregon Catholic Press). Don is very talented, professional and easy to work with. He knows exactly what he is doing. He delivers the projects timely and effectivcely. Don is always my number one choice. Thank you Don for working with me. God bless.
I've been working on my original music with Don going on 7 years now and I will not go anywhere else. What makes Don to me the best around is that he is also a world class musician, as well as producer, arranger and engineer. He is so easy to work with and gives all of himself in every song he works on. He and I have produced for Grammy winners such as Tony Lindsay (Santana) and Samuelle Prater (Club Nouveau). His input and expertise have definitely made the end product to my songs more than I could have ever imagined. He is truly amazing!
Don is able to take the demos that I put together and really excels in helping me flesh out my musical ideas into actual music. He is proficient in a lot of different styles and I have really enjoyed working together with him. I find him super easy to work with and I learn something new with each project I do with Don. He makes the whole creative process fun.
Working with Don Turney is always a wonderful experience. His professionalism and skill is a privilege to be a part of and I cannot recommend him enough.
Anything you throw at Don he can do ! He is amazing. I’m truly blessed to be working with him for a few years now. I can tell you first hand he’s one of the most talented humans I’ve ever met. He’s an excellent musician, pianist, arranger, producer, composer and engineer. He has the ear. Now that I’ve been spoiled I refuse to go anywhere else. He’s definitely one of kind
Working with Don was an incredible experience! I recorded my first song with him in California and learned so much in just my first session. The second time I worked with Don, I recorded all of my own stems and sent them to him for mixing and mastering. He does such a great, consistent and professional job and it's fun to work with him!
I have worked with Don numerous times and have always been impressed with his quality and professionalism. He is a true musician, and I have been so pleased with the tracks and recordings he’s helped me with. He is also extremely easy to work with, timely, and organized. I would highly recommend him!
I have had the pleasure of working with Don three times in the past 20 years. Don is not only is a Superb engineer, but he is an excellent musician as well. His musicianship allows him to hear and produce a more efficient and quality product than you would receive anywhere else. My last project wrapped up in May of this year, and it was so well produced I left the studio with joy in my heart. This could of had to do with Don dropping in some needed Hammond Organ and Synth to put the cherry on top of my songs.
If I we're looking for a studio, I'd pick this one hands down.....
I have hired Don Turney to play on countless projects since 1990. He is truly a world-class pianist and session musician, who is a phenomenal reader, and can play any style you throw at him. He is also an excellent composer, arranger, producer, and engineer. Plus, he is a wonderful person, always reliable, punctual, and easy to work with. I could not more strongly recommend anyone.
Don is your one stop shopping recording studio! His musicianship is top notch along with his recording and mixing ability. After playing cello and singing on numerous projects with him, including his recording of my choir off sight, there doesn’t seem to be anything he can’t do, and at the highest levels of arranging, recording, mixing, and producing, and I’m picky! He works hard, and fast if that’s what’s needed. Don can handle whatever your recording or production needs are, from start to finish, and guide you along the way. I highly recommend you check him out.
I can say with complete confidence that you will not be disappointed with Don Turney and DKS Productions. I've worked on multiple projects with Don, and I leave absolutely amazed every time. I am among those who refer to him as "Magic Donson", because he is an absolute wizard as a musician, arranger, and producer. Something magical seems to happen at every session! The atmosphere in the studio is always relaxed and comfortable. Don has a knack for making the best use of your time, and bringing the absolute best out you as an artist. Don is the best of the best!
Call Don Turney, now. Don't wait. Don's recorded several projects of mine, and like Disney, exceeded every expectation I had. A virtuoso at piano, keyboards, producing, engineering, arranging, and more. Ultimate professional with heart and soul for every person and project that is blessed by DKS. Working with Don elevated my music, my creativity, and my life.
I've done sessions all over the US and abroad. I always feed off of the energy and vibe of the studios I work in. DKS is something special. A very relaxing, no nonsense studio. Topped off with Don's engineering and production expertise, DKS is a one- two knock out! I've done several recordings at DKS and I can say with no hesitation, Don has a way of bringing out the best representation of yourself on track. DKS is a one stop shop for me. As a drummer, I'm very picky about my drum tone. But that's never a worry at DKS! I cant say it enough. Don is incredible and I recommend him highly!
Interview with Don Turney
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I produced, co-arranged, recorded, mixed and mastered an album for pianist/composer Karissa Noel Maunder. The stand-out single was called "Valor". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIow3RDDAIU
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Completing the SoundBetter questionaire. LOL. A lot of different projects from mixing Jazz combos to producing kids musicals and recording new Latin Pop originals.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not yet.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. I prefer a hybrid of analog and digital but it's just where we are now in this industry.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'll always get your approval for the cost of every detail before performing the task.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Feedback from a job well done and being proud of what I brought to the table.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Common Question: How much does it cost to produce a completed track? Common Answer: Do you have a few minutes so I can ask you some questions?
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Arrange, Record, Overdub, Edit, Mix and Master all in one day.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Do you have YouTube links that you can send me for inspiration and references of things you like.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't ask me "Do you do Beats?"

Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Arranging and performing piano tracks and also editing and tuning vocal tracks.

A: Whatever it may need. Sometimes it's just to create a killer recording of a brilliant song, other times there may be a need to help with re-harmonizing the chord structure or create and/or collaborate on backing vocal arrangements.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: The first step is getting to know the Artist and/or Songwriter and find out what makes them tick. All my clients have become very good friends and so establishing a great relationship from day one is key. From there we simply make beautiful music and there's no such thing as a typical work process.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I mostly work out of my studio DKS Productions. DKS productions has a relaxed, comfortable and creative atmosphere. It has a control room, Isolation room, and live room with a Disklavier Grand Piano and Hammond B3. It's a great environment for someone who is just beginning to step into the realm of recording and songwriting. For the same reasons, it is also a great place for the seasoned veteran. Fast, efficient and high quality work at an affordable price.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Musicians and music production that inspires me are typically performances and recordings that feel live, musically dynamic with real emotion, but have the sound of a polished and Grammy worthy audio mix.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I do is bringing to life a client's song by helping them decide on the perfect style, arrangement and production that their project needs.
