Interview with Andres Blanco
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I worked on a progressive album of 10 songs. I was responsible of the whole composition, arrangements, producing and recording synths and piano parts. When we finished the process Ive listened to the album and got completely happy and satisfied with the results.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Im working on several productions of independent artist and always doing karaoke covers for a multimedia company.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I have many partners working on SoundBetter to recommend my clients for sure!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: In an ideal situation I would use 100% analog. Today is almost impossible due to budget issues and I might replace with digital.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I always try to get my clients satisfy and if they dont like my ideas I try to push my limits to give a better options to them.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I almost like composing and make original arrangements.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: The most asked questions are how much I charge and when the project will end. I always answer that it depends on how many arrangements they want me to do and that would also set the project total time.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception is that mix are not included on the work that I do. Mix is another work that I can do but is very different and synths and piano are not necesary to do that
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask them what kind of sounds and arrangements they want me to record to their songs.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I would advice to search other artist that inspired them to compose their music, to understand where their ideas come from.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I would take a Kurzweil K2700, an RME sound card, Genelec monitoring, a very powered laptop and the best earphones I can find.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Ive been doing this more than 20 years and I want to get a complete living of it.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is almost based on Rock & Pop style. This is the music that Ive listened as I grew up.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like to work to legends as Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Vangelis and those kind of epic composers of many unforgettable songs.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I always give updates to my clients when working on a song, if the results at first are good, I continue working in the same direction to complete the whole song.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on rock, pop, ballad, progressive rock. Less often jazz, classic, EDM and LoFi music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill of course is arranging and composing synth or piano sounds to my client's songs,
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I always try to add some cool sounds with my exclusive Kurzweil library and record original arrangements that embelish the song as far as I can, and always give my clients a real satisfaction about the music that I can do.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: In most cases my clients use to give me a reference track to work in which synth or piano parts are missing. I ask them to provide me examples of artists or songs that inspired them so I get more accurate to compose, arrange and record the missing synth or piano parts.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I study music since I was 6 years old, so I listened many styles like classic, jazz, rock, ballad, metal, latin, EDM and LoFi.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: A big part of my clients ask me to arrange, produce and record synth or piano parts to their song. In other cases Im asked to compose complete songs following instructions or reference. Another kind of work that I offen do is to make cover songs, sometimes for karaoke or background tracks.
