A: For any potential clients considering hiring me, I encourage them to openly communicate their requirements and share their vision for their musical or sound project. By understanding their expectations and preferences, I can ensure that we align our creative direction and work towards achieving their desired outcomes. Open communication is key to establishing a comfortable and productive working relationship.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My career path has been deeply influenced by my upbringing in a musical family. My mother, an Indian classical vocalist, performed alongside her sister as the renowned 'Ceylon Sisters' from a young age. Growing up in this environment, I initially learned the Indian percussion instrument 'Mridangam' at the age of eight. However, my interest shifted towards the piano, and by the time I was 15, I taught myself to record using a digital audio workstation (DAW). During my high school years, I delved into experimenting with various genres, producing house music with my cousin, and composing scores for short films and telefilms. Subsequently, I pursued formal education in sound engineering at Berklee College of Music.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I specialise in producing a wide range of genres, including Hip-hop, R&B, Pop, Rap, Trap, Afrobeat, Deep House, Techno, DnB, Psytrance, and Dubstep. I’ve also worked on Jazz, Country, Rock, and Metal projects, though they aren’t my primary specialties.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Every project is unique, and I adapt my approach to align with my client’s vision. I immerse myself in the workflow that suits their needs, ensuring a seamless and collaborative process.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I have always been inspired by good music, regardless of who creates it. Whether it's a talented newcomer or an established professional, I find inspiration in excellent sound. I'm constantly seeking input from a diverse range of musicians and music production professionals.
