Vincent is a delight to work with. What I really like about him is that he really takes the time to listen and connect with a song. He is pro, easy to communicate with and really encourages the artist.
I cannot wait to work on further music with him.

If you have not worked with him yet, you are missing out.

I had my daughter work with V man. I was very impressed by his professionalism dedication and how he handled working with a 13yr old - he was able to build her confidence, reassuring her but also being honest with her. Making her first studio experience amazing. He has mad skills on the keyboard and has an ear for tone. What you need from a producer for sure. He is not stiff in his approach either
    Big up
    I could go on..

Working with V-MAN is absolutely amazing. Good mastery and sound engineering. Probably one of the few who value not only consumer satisfaction but also quality production in terms of content. In addition to that, he's a nice guy to be around to, he will counsel you appropriately on what to do and what not do as an artiste.

Interview with V-MAN

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Right now, I’m juggling a few projects across different stages: I’m mixing several singles for emerging African artists who want a clean, modern sound that still preserves their cultural identity. I’m mastering an EP for a diaspora artist whose sound blends traditional African instrumentation with contemporary production.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: What I love most is being a bridge between raw ideas and polished, emotionally compelling music. There’s something very satisfying about taking rough stems and turning them into a track that feels alive. For me, great engineering isn’t just about clean sound — it’s about enhancing the soul of the music.

  5. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  6. A: 1) How long will the mix take? My Answer: Ranges from 2-5days depending on many factors 2) How much will it costs? My Answer: Starts from $25-100 depending on the song 3) Common Question: "How many revisions do you allow?" My Answer: Around 2-5 revisions sound reasonable to me. 4) Common Question: “Can you make it sound like X artist / reference song?” My Answer: Absolutely — I always encourage clients to share reference tracks. But I also believe in making your song sound like you. My job is not just to replicate — it’s to adapt, translate, and enhance your vision in a way that feels genuine and uniquely yours.

  7. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  8. A: One big misconception is that mixing and mastering engineers are “miracle workers” who can fix anything. While I’m confident in my skills, I’m not a mind reader — communication and vision are key. If we clearly define your goals, reference songs, and expectations from the start, I can deliver exactly what you’re hoping for.

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: Make sure you pick someone who understands both emotion and technique. Share not just what you hear in your head, but also what you feel. Provide reference tracks, demo mixes, and clear feedback. The more precise you are about your vision, the better the result will be.

  11. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  12. A: 1) My DAW + audio interface (for flexibility) 2) High-quality studio monitors or headphones (for accurate monitoring) 3) A compressor (analog or plugin) — for dynamics shaping 4) An EQ (hardware or plugin) — for tonal control 5) A multi-effect processor or reverb unit — for adding space and depth

  13. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  14. A: One of the projects I’m especially proud of is the Wazimba album by Water Sax, an incredibly talented artist from Rwanda. I was the mixing and mastering engineer for the entire project, shaping the sonic direction and ensuring every track carried the emotional impact and clarity it deserved. The album was very well received—not just across Africa, but internationally as well. It received airplay on Voice of America stations worldwide, along with several radio stations across North America. Knowing that my work helped elevate the music to that level of global reach is something I’m truly proud of. Being part of a project that crossed borders and connected with listeners around the world reminded me why I love what I do: helping artists translate their vision into a powerful, polished sound that stands out anywhere.

  15. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  16. A: Not currently as I'm new to the platform. However I'm sure I'll be adding some names here soon.

  17. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  18. A: Digital (In the box) but using a lot of analog emulations such as the Fairchild 670, UA 1176, EMT 250, Lexicon 480L etc. My reasons for using digital is recallability and ability to work on several sessions

  19. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  20. A: It is very important for a mixing engineer to understand that the song belongs to the client. So I'll do my best to assist my client to achieve the best mix for their song. We will work as a team :)

  21. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  22. A: 1) What's their vision/dream for the song? 2) What is inspired them to write the song? 3) What expectations do they have for the mix?

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I began my career as a pianist/keyboardist doing many live gigs in Africa and in the USA for about 15yrs. I then shifted from mainly doing the live scene into the studio 14yrs ago. During these 14yrs in music production, I've also been teaching music production to many students.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Clear and well balanced. This could mean totally

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with Adele because she has an amazing voice and she is able to bring out the emotion of the song like no one else.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Mixing is both Art and Science. I therefore try my best to be the really good at both and then apply it to each song I mix and/or master.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Pop, RnB, Reggae, Gospel, AfroBeat, World Music,

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: On a personal level, I'd say people skills and listening. On a music production level. I'd say Mixing and Mastering.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I try my best to bring out the emotion of the song. As a mixing engineers, we have the ability to really affect the emotion of the songs thus greatly impacting how the listener experiences the song. Great mixing engineers manage to do this expertly. I pay close attention to this aspect more than anything.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: For mixing, I first take time to discus and listen to the producer/artist to find out their vision for the song. I ask questions and take notes. I also ask for a rough mix if they have one because you can learn a lot from it. I then import the tracks into a pro tools that has my mixing template ready. The next step would be to make sure that there are no errors in the tracks/stems. I then do a rough balance and listen to the song several times. After this I come up with a plan of attack and then proceed to mix the song. I also A/B with relevant reference songs once in a while.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I mix and master in the box mainly using Avid Pro Tools, Universal Audio and Waves software.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Andrew Schepps, Al Schmitt, Mick Guzauski

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Mixing and Mastering
