Endorse Macro [Mixing With Macro]Interview with Macro [Mixing With Macro]
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: They are a bunch. Daniel Caesar's and Byron Messia's latest projects. And a few records I did with Icewear Vezzo at one of the most exclusive studios in NYC. I proud of the connection I have with the artists I work with and we make great music as a result. My goal is to always help artist's make their best record.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The creativity and skill of the artists I work with, and the fact that I can add my skill and taste to their creative process.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: RJ Paisin
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital: because it is accessible from almost anywhere.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I always do my best to take your sound to the next level and deliver your record when I say I will.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How long will it take? 1-4 days turn around. Who have you worked with? Meek Mill, Fivio Foreign, Lil TJay, Byron Messia and more. How long have you been an engineer? 5-7 years.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That mixing engineers can magically turn a badly recorded song into a master piece.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Have you used a mixing engineer before? If you have, what how was your experience? What are you looking to accomplish when hiring me to mix your songs?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Great work, if your recordings are done in a pro studio. If you are recording yourself then learn at least the basics for a solid recording so I can give you the best work I can.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Protools, Apollo twin, U87, External HD, Audio Technica Headphones
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Mixing my own music > Started Mixing for friends > Went to school for audio > Interned at Top Studios > Became a full time recording and mixing engineer here in NYC Took me about 5-7 years
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: It depends on the artist. I can give you hard, aggressive, Dark or I can give you a lighter, cleaner version -- It really depends on what the artist needs.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Travis Scott because he explores different sounds with his voice and production.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Keep it Simple: The Artist's voice is an instrument so give them space in your mix to express themselves.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip Hop, Rap and RnB
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Communication: I know the right conversations to have with artists and/or their team to understand exactly what the artist needs and they approach give everyone involved the confidence in moving forward on projects.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring clarity and creativity to a song. Most artists I work with have a good how they will rap or sing their lyrics and I as the engineer assist them as they record by helping them perfect their sound.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Record the Artist + Mix while recording, usually by the time the artist is finished recording their song they will have a very good rough mix. I also mix for artist when they record their song in another studio.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Kanye West, Travis Scott, and 40
