Gamal has been an absolute pleasure to work with. He's incredibly professional, understanding, responsive and fast working (delivered the track in less than 24h!). We were able to negotiate a price to suit the project and my budget and he delivered exactly what I've asked him to, following all my notes and accommodating my requests. I will definitely hire Gamal again for future projects !

First time using SoundBetter & Gamal is the first producer I was able to work with on this platform, very lucky! Gamal was incredibly professional, patient, & such a talent to work with. His production conveyed exactly the emotion I intended, helping me find the vision I was hoping for, yet didn't know how to find on my own. Will work with him again!

I've had the immense pleasure of working with Gamal over the last 4.5 years. His passion for music is admirable & his talent, immeasurable. Since collaborating, we've grown as artists, people, and as friends. Gamal will gently hold your hand & teach you more than you'd expect -- I am proud of the singer, songwriter, and producer I have become in such a short period of time & I owe a lot of that to him. If you're looking to create something special that reaches new heights, evokes emotion, & touches your soul, Gamal is you guy. I look forward to continue working with him & you should too.

Interview with Gamal

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: 5 O'clock shadow by Jimi Tents. It was one of the first projects that I took on completely as a producer, and it taught me a lot about the role of a producer. It was eye opening and made me realize why I love producing so much. It also did well which made me see that I could have a possible future in this field.

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: I would definitely recommend working with Riosse, his attention to detail, professionally and urgency is top notch. You can find him here on SoundBetter as well!

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Both. They have different things they bring to the table and both are important. Analog can be much more textured and is difficult to recreate which is what can make it so special. While digital can be controlled way easier which allows for more creative paths and more access to sounds that wouldn't be available in analog.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: To do my best to bring your song to life and maintain the essence of the song throughout the process.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Seeing people smile when they hear the final song.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: How quick can I hear a demo? Usually within one day!

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: That you need top of the best gear.

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: What type of music do you make? What would you describe your sound to be? How does this song or lyric make you feel? How open are you to making changes and or building on a song or project?

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Have some raw idea's ready, voice notes, videos, demos, drafts, chords or lyrics.

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: Laptop, Guitar, Headphones, Microphone, Speakers

  22. A: 10 years. It wasn't always officially this. But slowly this became my calling. One that I couldn't ignore.

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: Smooth, textured and minimal.

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: Frank Ocean, I am simply amazed by his music and so I would love to first and foremost, see his process and learn from it and then be a part of it and bring what I could to the table.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: If the song does not feel good as a demo, it's not ready to record.

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: Listening carefully.

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: It's hard to pin down. I bring color and feeling. Expression must be protected at every stage of the process and I help you get your message from the idea in your head to an audible format.

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?
