My name is Jen, I'm a composer, Producer, Guitarist and Bassist and I want to provide you with strong, exciting and nuanced music, whether it's a fresh bass line, some ambient rhythm guitar or a full production for your song!
If your song is missing a fresh, melodic and supportive bass line, then you can quarantee to find one here! With over 10 years’ of experience playing bass guitar in a range of styles including soul, jazz, pop and rock, I will provide a reliable and creative addition to your song, composition or live performance. I play on a Fender Jazz bass and I am skilled at techniques including finger style, picking, slap and palm muting.
I am an experienced composer who has written for a wide range of film genres including romance, documentary, period, children's cartoon, and comedy. I have refined my craft of melding music to picture to instil a powerful effect on the audience - for my score to black comedy, 'Manic Attacks' I won the Jury Award for Best Soutrack at the European Film Festival!
From self-producing my electronic-indie pop solo project, Jensyn, to arranging and designing cinematic scores, I have an in-depth knowledge of the production process for a range of genres. I use Cubase along side Spitfire Audio virtual instruments, combined with guitar, bass, mandolin and vocals to create inspiring music. In January, I released my EP, 'I Wanna Be There' for which I was nominated UK Music Outstanding Graduate MAP Award.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Thom Yorke, he's created some of the most beautiful songs that are my all time favourite tracks and I would just love to see his process!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Indie, dream pop, rock, ambient, experimental hybrid-pop
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Re-harmonising melodies and making a melody for pre-existing harmony. This is, I think, a big key to creating a strong bass line - understanding the music you are writing for.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I believe I bring fresh but cohesive bass line ideas to a song. If the track is vocal focused, I will make sure the bass sits at the back while supporting the groove, but also add moments excitement where necessary. I love melodic bass lines but I always make sure to limit this to areas that need an instrumental high.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: With a recording, I'll get sent a demo (with or without bass) plus the BPM of the track so I can line it up in my DAW ready for recording. I'll ask the client if they already have some ideas in mind, if there are moments in the song they want to sound a specific way or be more subtle or punchy, and I'll ask if there is a certain style they would like the bass to be in. Then I will get to work writing and recording a bass line. As I go, I will send demos, e.g. the chorus bass line, to ensure that I am writing a line that they are happy with. Once the full bass line is written and recorded, I will ask if they want the track to be sent dry or if they want some light production on it e.g, EQ, compression, perhaps some chorus or overdrive. Then I will send it in the requested format ready to fit into their track.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Joe Dart, Radiohead, Charlie Puth, Paul Dixon, Tom Misch
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Crafting and recording melodic Bass lines for indie-pop tracks and performing bass live in pop/folk/rock/indie bands.
