Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: First, if they have a deadline, because it's very important to organize the times and dates to do the whole process of a production. And then if they are able to record a sketch before we start the production
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: First they have to see what kind of producer I am, and I advice them ask me all the questions that they need to understand how we are going to work together
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Well it's easy for me. I'll bring my piano, my computer, audio interface, one mic and my ableton push 2
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started to study piano when I was 11 years old, then I went to the University and I studied Music Production. Afterwards I studied Piano Jazz in a Conservatory and at the same time I started to produce artists and also my own music. So I have been doing this work for 12 years
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is a mix between mostly jazz and electronic, and also some of urban rhythm from Latinoamerica
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I really would like to work with Flying Lotus, because I love the way and the esthetics that he use, I feel he has a particular way to make music, a sound particular and special, and his composition are so creative
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on in many styles but mostly pop, indie rock, electronic, hip hop, trap and jazz
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: There are a lot of artist that inspire me, as Flying Lotus, Hiatus Kaiyote, Moses Summey, Four Tet, Thom Yorke, Arca, Herbie Hancock, Ryoki Ikeda, Alva Noto, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Jacob Collier, Monolink, The Blaze, Puma Blue, Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, Coldplay, Radiohead and Brad Mehldau.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I usually do the whole process to produce a song, then also the mix and the master. And I also usually record pianos and synthesizers
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I have a duo project, and we released two songs where I was the composer, producer and mix engineer, and I'm really proud of my work and the final result in these songs
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Currently I'm finishing a song that I'm producing, making some adjustments to the mix. And also I'm mixing 3 songs for an EP
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes I know a sax player, he is really professional and he can record all the saxophones, baritone, tenor, alto and soprano, and also bass clarinet. His name is Patricio Bottcher
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Mostly digital but I also have an analog synthesizer. Because currently there are thousands of possibilities in the digital world and it has professional results when you are producing songs. But I also like the combination between both worlds, that's why I also have an analog option in my home studio
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will do my best working on your songs, and I will try to do exactly what you are looking for with your songs
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I really like when I start to make a beat of the song, this creative part of the process I enjoy a lot, and then when I have the first demo finished and I have to improve the song making some details, and also I like the mixing time
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: In how much time are you gonna send me the song finished? it depends if there is a deadline could you tell me more about the gear, Instruments and software you use and if it would be possible to record vocals too? I tell them about my gear instruments and software and of course I also can record vocals in my home studio as long as we are in the same city.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I think when the customer think that I can convert his voice like his favorite singer
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: When producing your own music, it’s normal to want to sound like your favorite artists. However, don’t just mimic the kind of music that you and everybody else already hears. Before starting your work, try to stay away from listening to other people’s music so you can have a much easier time composing your own melodies, lyrics, and mixes.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skills are recording pianos and synthesizers because I'm also a piano jazz player. Others skills is making complex beats and re-harmonize simple harmonic progressions
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring the professional sound, developing the song with dynamics, high quality and keeping the soul of the song as the artist like
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually start recording a sketch with the spirit of the song (voice and chords), and after that I start to produce, generally first with the drum, then the bass, and then with the synthesizers, pianos, guitars, etc. I also need some musical references from the artist to try to go more fast in the music producing process
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup is simple and effective. I have all my controllers and synthesizers connected by a usb hub, even my apollo interface. I also have another extra screen to work more comfortable and fluent
I was the producer and mixing engineer in this production
